COMPANY PROFILE Jamshedji Nusserwaji Tata, Father of Indian Industry is the legendary person who has started TATA Group of Companies in year 1868. The total revenue of the company is $70.8 billion in the year 2008-2009 . In 1991 Tata Motors was listed in New York Stock Exchange.

Tata is mainly into seven Business Sectors like communications and information technology, engineering, materials, services, energy, consumer products and chemicals. TATA has become the synonym for TRUST to its customers worldwide. Tata has the CORE values on which it stands for successful business which are Integrity, Understanding, Excellence, Unity and last but not the least Responsibility.

TATA MOTORS : 

TATA MOTORS Tata Motors formerly called Tata Engineering and Locomotives Ltd (TELCO) is established to manufacturing of Locomotive and engineering products. Tata Motors is the India’s largest automobile company revenues of Rs 92,519 crore ($20 billion) in 2009-10. Tata Motors has operations in the UK, South Korea, Thailand and Spain. It has plants at Jamshedpur, Pune, Lucknow, Pantnagar and a manufacturing unit in joint venture with Fiat near Pune.

MileStones : 

MileStones Acquisition of Jaguar and Land Rover is major for Tata motors. Invention on the first indigenous car INDICA in the year 1998. Nano the cheapest car.- Mr. Ratan Tata, The Chairman is called the Hero for the Indian Business.

Objective and Mission Mr. Ratan Tata , had a dream of a family car which can be purchased at affordable price by middle class people. It has given rise for the innovation of new and comfortable means of transportation. The objective of Tata Motors and Ratan Tata is to release the car to reach the standards of its customers.

NANO INTRO : 

NANO INTRO The term NANO is derived from the fact that Nano is superior technology which is small in size. Nano popularly called the People’s car. Budget used for development of the project is approximately 1700 crores.

Types: Basic model: Features: seat belts, High mounted Rear Stop lamp, adjusting seat (only for driver), Fixed front passenger seat, Folding Rear Seats,2-Spoke Steering wheel, Grey bumpers and interiors, Driver side Outside rear view mirror. Costs to Rs.1, 36,000 on road. Available in Ivory White, Racing Red, Summer Blue colors.

Nano CX model: Features features of Base model, in addition it has AC, tinted glasses, and metallic paint. cost to Rs.1, 60,000. Available in Ivory White, Racing Red, Summer Blue, Champange Gold, Lunar Silver .

Nano LX model: Features are Air Condition and power windows, fog lights, central locking, digital tripmeter, body colored bumpers, 3-Spoke Steering wheel, Moulded door trim with fabric inserts, floor console with glass holder, Anti-Glare inside rear view mirror, Sunvisors on both sides. Costs up to Rs.1, 84,600. Available in Sunshine Yellow, Champange Gold, Lunar Silver.

Europa Nano was first shown at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show.Heavily modified to meet EU safety and emission standards. Features an extended wheelbase, a new 3-cylinder engine, power steering, an anti-lock braking system (ABS) and an improved interior and exterior added to the Nano LX model features. Car will be more expensive.

Specifications: Look: Nano is oval shape, snub-nosed stylish and rich look. Dimensions: 3.1 meters (10.23 feet) long, 1.5 meters wide and 1.6 meters high. Capacity: Five-Seater which are comfortable hatchback seat. Engine: 623cc, two cylinders, rear engine, 35 horsepower, comprising of aluminum body, petrol vehicle. Fuel Efficiency: Nano can travel 65 miles per hour with speed of 105 Kilometers for an hour.

Weakness: Weight of the car is too low Fiber body—not so good Suitable only in certain areas and cannot be used for traveling to hilly areas. Low engine capacity. Low suspension power.

Opportunities: Any middle and lower middle class groups can afford for a car. Most of the Two Wheeler customers opt for it. Re-sale (second hand car buyers) may be interested. Auto-rickshaw customers will also be motivated.

Threats As it is of low cost many people buy it, in turn increase in traffic and pollution. It is not eco-friendly and can face problems with the Government. Competitors- Many companies already announced and decreased the price of the cars to satisfy customers. Delay in delivery

Reasons for Decline Stage: Nano is in the decline stage because, failure of the car from the point of its release. Because of lighter body and inefficient engine and loud noise.

MARKETING STRATEGY : 

MARKETING STRATEGY Radio, Print and other media especially through online. It started promoting the Nano games,Nano mobiles for indicom users, T-Shirts, Watches, chatrooms etc for the product to get immense publicity. Nano started conversations on most popular social networking sites like Orkut, Facebook, Twitter, Linkedln. Nan team has started Blogs and wrote articles and reviews on Nano online, where many prospects can read and learn about the product.

It also has pop-up advertising in various popular sites, and also Nano news in paper has also played a major role. The Singur Violation worked as publicity. Official Website discussing about interesting and innovative product and always keeping it active all the time. Uploading videos about Nano. Last but not the least; cost factor itself has gained popularity.

Comparison with Competitors: Tata Nano has 3 variants and Maruti has 2 variants. Cylinders in Nano are 2 and in Maruti it has 3. Type of engine in Nano is Rear Engine and Maruthi 800 is front engine. Nano looks very stylish and Maruthi 800 is outdated. Maruthi is less noisy and Nano has more noise. And many more to compare in terms of speed, cost.
