VISUAL COMMUNICATION:

VISUAL COMMUNICATION Visual communication as the name suggests is communication through visual aid and is described as the conveyance of ideas and information in forms that can be read or looked upon. Visual communication solely relies on vision, and is primarily presented or expressed with two dimensional images, it includes: signs , typography , drawing , graphic design , illustration , colour and electronic resources. It also explores the idea that a visual message accompanying text has a greater power to inform, educate, or persuade a person or audience.

Signing If your deaf, then speaking is done with a combination of hands, arms and the mouth. Some who are deaf can read lips. Even though no sounds are heard, the words formed by the mouth are interpreted visually.

Clothing & Bodily Characteristics Elements such as physique, height, weight, hair, skin color , gender, odors , and clothing send nonverbal messages during interaction Clothing worn- A famous writer said man is recognised by “ Dress & Address”. Meaning thereby looks and the way a person speaks both are important. Research into height has generally found that taller people are perceived as being more impressive. Often people try to make themselves taller, for example, standing on a platform, when they want to make more of an impact with their speaking.

Uniforms have both a functional and a communicative purpose. This man's clothes identify him as male and a police officer; his badges and shoulder sleeve insignia give information about his job and rank. Actors clothing and hair styles make impact On general public making them popular

Physical Environment Environmental factors such as furniture , architectural style, interior decorating , lighting conditions, colors , temperature, noise, and music affect the behavior of communicators during interaction. The furniture itself can be seen as a nonverbal message A contemporary Bed room Furniture

Visual communication includes visual displays of information, like, topography, photography, signs, symbols and designs. Television and video clips and computer displays are the electronic form of visual communication.

Slide 13:

Special Methods Communication Special methods includes signs. This is the mechanical type of communication, which includes the use of signal flags such as used by ships, military salutes, horns, and sirens. Drums as those used by tribal Africans and smoke signals as used by American Indians in the old West.
