三毒 , 指世间众生所染三种根本毒害,即贪、嗔、痴。 贪是贪爱五欲,嗔是嗔恚无忍,痴是愚痴无明,因贪嗔痴能毒害人们的身命和慧命,它是世间一切烦恼的根本。 Three poisons 三毒 The fundamental evils inherent in life that give rise to human suffering. The source of all illusions and earthly desires, called poisons. Because they pollute people's lives and work to prevent them from turning their hearts and minds to good 指世人引取各种事物名分的欲望。它使人迷醉于一切顺情的境,引取无厌。 Sends all five senses organs off in a perpetual, but insatiable, search for gratification – wealth, love, food, fame, idleness, and so on – draining us of inmate life force. Indicates malice born of hatred disturbing the harmonious relationship between self and others. Ignorance of one’s own Buddha nature and characterized by blindness to the law of cause and effect, as well as short sighted attachment to immediate gain 是指人有恚忿之心。以迷心对于一切违情之境起忿怒者,恼怒打骂伤害他人。三毒中此为最恶。 是指人有迷闇之心。心性闇钝,迷惘于事理。或对事理颠倒,因果迷乱。也称无明。 贪 Greed 嗔 Anger 痴 Foolishness
