Being cautious is not being afraid... it is being aware of the limits of that with which you have to work... it is knowing your boundaries, your edges, as well as knowing the goals and responsibilities given you. Jurisdiction, that area assigned to you for which you are ultimately responsible, comes with great expectations that you will wisely assess the situation, use the tools at hand, and accomplish that to which you have been assigned... Proper cautiousness grants God-given protection from the lies and attacks of those who try to derail your work. Learning to discern, to work to the fullest measure, and to trust the God who sent you makes sure your work is not in vain.

Who Am I?:

Who Am I? In Nature… Very sociable If careful, can bury an enemy alive Live from 2-5 (& as long as 8) years in the wild From Scripture… A founding leader willing to give up all to mentor others Quietly demonstrated faith with love Was willing to discerningly take chances

The Prairie Dog:

The Prairie Dog Cynomys (dog mouse, so called for its “barking”) ludovicianus (black tailed) 5 species, each considered endangered… The most common = the black-tailed prairie dog; the only one found within the vast Great Plains region of North America.

Life as a prairie dog…:

Life as a prairie dog… You live in complex burrows & large family groups Mom births you in a special nursery When born, you are totally dependent & do not leave the burrow for 6 weeks You go on your own at about 1 year old

Cautiousness in Scripture :

Cautiousness in Scripture Completely defenseless, reaching the burrow is essential… People also find safety in rocks & caves against superior forces… Judges 6:2 , Psalm 94:22 We, too, often need to “scurry” to the safety of our refuge in Christ & rest in His provision…. Psalm 62:5-8

Being willing to stand alone…:

Being willing to stand alone… *He was an example to others … Acts 4:37 *He used Godly discernment in his work with others… Acts 9:26-31

God’s provision & direction…:

God’s provision & direction… Do I take note of the stuff & skills I have & am I willing to be helpful/available to others? (Like Barnabas, am I willing to wisely encourage, but stay within my calling?) Am I willing to run to the safety of my Rock when overwhelmed, or do I get trapped outside of my protection? Can others truly say of me that I am “a good man & full of the Holy Ghost”? Acts 11:24
