Jesus has a very clear lesson on how those day laborers reacted, and then how we are supposed to .... something about being true to your word, and realizing the boss has the right to do with his stuff whatever he wishes... it is his, isn't it???

Who Am I?:

Who Am I? In Nature… Native to North America Loves the woods, food & water Omnivorous feeder, including carrion From Scripture… “Fairness” was key to this situation A long, hot, wearying day A major conflict over perspective

Growing up opossum …:

Growing up opossum … Mom dens in a hole anywhere, ground or tree You will move often… Young don’t have to worry about getting lost in any move… Mom keeps you really close! At birth, you are about .4” long Newborns are blind & have claws on the front feet to “swim” up Mom’s hair via a path she has prepared…

Sticking by a task until its done…:

Sticking by a task until its done… Opossum moms do not leave their babies, but actually become literally attached. She is constantly available for her young until they leave to make their own way. Now, for us….. Colossians 3:23-24 And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.

Employer vs employees…:

Employer vs employees… Day laborers waiting to be hired, day laborers who were hired… And an employer exercising his discretion…

The dispute over wages…:

The dispute over wages… An executive decision… The employer decided to be generous to all 4 groups, but in typical human response, the 1st group complained after comparing themselves with the others & wailing “Unfair!” The four groups were each paid the same amount… the generous wage of a Roman soldier… one denarius.

The OT principle of recompense…:

The OT principle of recompense… Numbers 31:27-27, Joshua 22:8, & 1 Samuel 30:20-25… those that stay back & those that support those who fight should be rewarded as well as those who actually fought...     How does that apply here? The 1 st group acted like men of Belial… greed & disappointment at payment, even though they received according to the contract. Peter had asked a question re:payment for following Jesus, & this parable showed the Lord’s response…

1. Put others ahead of myself… not as a rug, but a witness to them of Christ-likeness. :

1. Put others ahead of myself… not as a rug, but a witness to them of Christ-likeness. The Availability Wrap-up.. 5. Be glad for the chance to serve... Attitude is everything. 4. Be ready to answer when I’m called… don’t be so narrow in your preparations that it is “all about you”… 3. Find a way to help, not hide… grow up & take on responsibility. 2. Clear it with the appropriate authorities or responsible parties before I make commitments… don’t add to the problem.
