Sandpipers, ubiquitous shore birds… *Terrain can be from sea level to 14,000’... *Also called teeters, sand snipes, see-saws, etc. *Parents lay 3-4 eggs in a shallow crude nest... *When in danger, they freeze & teach chicks to do so on command, but sometimes flush when cornered… *Diet = insects, fish fry, grubs, small crustacea , worms

Responding quickly… & wisely? The “nervous” habit of flushing may frighten a predator, or show them the nest…choices… We need to weigh our options before moving forward…. Prov 18:17 Our responses should also include gratitude…

Abigail A beautiful woman married to a very wealthy, but churlish man Was the woman in charge of her home & servants… Understood the longer ramifications of decisions… Was able to humbly bring another perspective…

Responding wisely & quickly…:

Responding wisely & quickly… Notice the servants came to her… She had presence of mind… She protected family & David by appealing to his better nature…

Some thoughts to consider… David was widely known for exploits & that Saul was after him… Nabal & David may have been distant cousins… (thru Caleb & Judah) Nabal’s wealth was more important to him than common sense…& used to being rough with “underlings” & “black sheep”.. Abigail was trusted by servants, David, &…her husband…

How do we apply all this? :

How do we apply all this? * Often in life we will have Nabals around us, or in the shadows making decisions for us... Being an Abigail means being fully informed, flexible, decisive & willing to be the peacemaker… *Not every situation will be resolved to our liking, but every situation can be met with wisdom if we work to understand God’s perspective regarding personalities & His way of doing things…
