Determination Lesson4 Rejecting Any Distraction Which Could Hinder Tas

Presentation Description

The largest member of the weasel family is known for its relentless determination. An unnamed prophet from a rival country was sent to a new king of a newly organized kingdom. He had a message that would not be well received, but had to be given. The unrelenting determination to follow God's clear directions and to give that message would mean life and death for the nation and the prophet.

The king is restored… 1 Kings 13:6-10:

The king is restored… 1 Kings 13:6-10 And the king answered and said unto the man of God, Intreat now the face of the LORD thy God, and pray for me, that my hand may be restored me again. And the man of God besought the LORD, and the king's hand was restored him again, and became as it was before. And the king said unto the man of God, Come home with me, and refresh thyself, and I will give thee a reward. .

The first decision….:

The first decision…. And the man of God said unto the king, If thou wilt give me half thine house, I will not go in with thee, neither will I eat bread nor drink water in this place: For so was it charged me by the word of the LORD, saying, Eat no bread, nor drink water, nor turn again by the same way that thou camest . So he went another way, and returned not by the way that he came to Bethel.

But then…:

But then… He is invited to stop, rest, & eat at an old prophet’s home… He may have been exhausted after confronting Jeroboam & considered his work done… 1 Kings 13:14 He did not follow through on God’s explicit instructions… He lost focus… Disobedience costs……

The message was to a nation~ Compromising God’s Word will not be left unpunished …not Jeroboam’s …not the prophet’s :

The message was to a nation~ Compromising God’s Word will not be left unpunished …not Jeroboam’s …not the prophet’s

The unnamed prophet…:

The unnamed prophet… Why not eat or drink?? Judges 20:26 vs Matt 9:14 & 1 Cor 5:11 How could the prophet have been deceived? He may have already compromised a little just by stopping to rest instead of going straight home… 1 Peter 5:8 Why the punishment? He as a spiritual leader compromised God’s directions much like Jeroboam had~& he just left that king!

How do we apply all this? :

How do we apply all this? * Remember that just delivering the message is not blanket protection , nor the end of the job… * Obey what God has told you & finish His work… * Take with a grain of salt what others tell you God said for you… you are being watched & weighed… 1Timothy 4:16 Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.
