The Structure of the Earth’s Interior : 

The Structure of the Earth’s Interior The entire interior of the earth from surface to the centre is not alike. It can be divided into 3 main parts according to the nature of the substance it contains, its temperature and depth.

The Earth`s Interior : 

The Earth`s Interior The Crust The Mantle The Core

The Crust : 

The Crust The outermost part of the earth is its crust. It is about 30 to 70 Km under land surface and about 5 to 6 Km under the oceans. It contains minerals of Aluminium , Magnesium, and Silicon. It forms only 2% of the total volume of the earth.

The Mantle : 

The Mantle Is about 70 to 2900 Km below the earth’s surface. It contains minerals of Magnesium and Iron. It forms about 82% of the total volume of the earth. Up to a depth of 400 Km, the mantle consists of molten rock and below is made of extremely hard rock.

The Core : 

The Core Inside the mantle is called the earth’s core. The earth’s core is very hot. It includes almost 16 % of the earth’s volume. The central part up to 1200 Km is extremely hot. It is made of iron and nickel and is like a solid ball. The part around it , having a thickness of about 2250 Km, is in the liquid state with a temperature of more than 4000° C.
