Study about the MIS set up taken by the Delhi District Courts.Objectives : Objectives To study the flow and storage of information for effective decision making of the management in the Delhi District Courts. To find out the various functions of MIS Help the Judicial Administration in reforming its day-to-day activities Provide web based information and query counter for the benefit of litigants Provide transparency of information Cut short delays in all time critical applicationsINTRODUCTION: INTRODUCTION A computer-based ‘information system’ developed and maintained by a commercial enterprise. To integrate data from all its departments (product development, production and inventory, marketing and sales, personnel administration, etc.) to support managerial and supervisory decision-making with real time analysis. Designed to track progress toward achievement of a company's goals and objectives. To aid in identifying problems or obstacles that must be resolved or removed by upper-level management.Need for MIS: Need for MIS Make decisions necessary to improve management of facilities and services. Implement participatory planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluationMIS in Delhi District courts : MIS in Delhi District courts An independent, effective and efficient judicial system that fosters respect for the rule of law is indispensable in a truly democratic system. Modernization, streamlining and improved efficiency of the court systems . District Courts of Delhi, functioning in four different Court Complexes .Name of Courts: Name of Courts Tis Hazari Courts Complex Karkardooma Courts Complex Patiala House Courts Complex Rohini Courts Complex are striving hard to achieve this objective.Slide 13: The District Courts Computerization Project was formally inaugurated by Hon'ble Chief Justice of India on 23.11.2003 . Allocation of Rs 2.28 crore was made by the Central Government for this purpose. Yearly allocation of Rs 2.75 crore for the next five years beginning with financial year 2004-2005.Operating System : Operating System LINUX based operating system Its cost effective and open platform software features. When future upgrades are required, the same are available either free of cost. It is almost virus free.Hardware : Hardware Standalone Personal Computer systems To perform the required task that is capability of storing sufficient amount of data. Retrieval of the same should be quick and instantly available. The Judges were hesitant to allow transfer of half-baked information to the servers like judgments or orders, which have not been finalized. Similarly the data for daily use is required to be kept in the computers of the record keepers. A backup copy of the data in the Steno's computer system is also kept in the computer system of the record keepers. Both these computer systems are linked to the servers by LAN. The Server Room is the nerve centre of all activity as far as the computerization is concerned.Slide 17: Database & application servers installed in computer centers in four Court Complexes Computer systems and printers connected through LAN in the courtrooms. TFT screens installed for Judges to see the orders & evidence being typed by Stenos. Computer systems installed in centralized filing counters, cash branch, library, copying agency, record room, server sections etc.Software : Software The heart of computerization of District Court of Delhi is the customized software . Developed by NIC. The Judges and the Court Staff gave their valuable input to software developers to make them aware of the work flow type of registers/forms/data/summons/warrants etc. being maintained and the reports being generated in the Courts.
