INTRODUCTION:

INTRODUCTION An Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) is a modern type of examination often used in health sciences (e.g. optometry, medicine, physical therapy, radiography, nursing, pharmacy, dentistry, paramedicine). It is designed to test clinical skill performance and competence in skills such as communication, clinical examination, procedures / prescription, exercise prescription, joint mobilisation / manipulation techniques, radiographic positioning, radiographic image evaluation and interpretation of results.

METHODOLOGY Research design: Descriptive design Population: Nursing Faculty Sample: Nursing faculty working in VMCON, Pudhucherry from 22-09-11 to 14-09-11. Sampling Technique: Non-Probability convenient technique

Sample size: Thirty Samples Setting: Vinayaka Mission’s College of nursing, Pudhucherry. Tool: Knowledge on OSCE was assessed by using Structured Questionnaire with 15 items Attitude on OSCE was assessed by using five point Likert scale with 10 statement

Data Collection period: Data was collected from 12-09-11 to 14-09-11 Data analysis: Data was analyzed by using descriptive & inferential statistics Mean & Mean percentage was used to assess the level of knowledge and attitude towards OSCE. Spearman Brown prophecy formula used to assess the correlation between knowledge & attitude.

CONCLUSION:

CONCLUSION The study findings shows that though knowledge is high attitude towards OSCE was slightly negative. So faculty should be imparted with enough knowledge on OSCE.

KIM OSCE not teach you mostly how to examine the student rather it teaches the students HOW to learn
