character Kyle cooper helps the audience understand what type of character the movies about by using close-up on graphic images which give hints. In the first example below there is a boy’s face with black ink mark over his eyelids. This connotes erasing his person’s identity by means of killing. It could also connote kidnapping because his eyes are covered and the eyes also are known as the “window of a person’s soul”. The second example shows the character using a blade to cut off the skin underneath his fingerprints. This again gives a hint that this character is a criminal because he is trying to conceal his DNA and that he is a serial killer. The third example towards the at the end of the title sequence shows the character cutting out the word “God” from an American dollar .This tells the reader that the Narrative of the movie is clearly linked to religious themes and could also suggest that this character is a religious fanatic .

Narrative Kyle coopers opening sequence gives the audience the impression that the narrative of se7en is based on solving crime,kidnapping,murder and revenge . The images below help the audience establish these: This image of an injured person suggests that the character in the opening takes sheer enjoyment on inflicting pain on people

Narrative Finally, this image of the hands on the paper could represent the religious theme. The hands are placed on the book and in reference to the Christian religion the “LAYING OF HANDS” is used to receive healing from Jesus Christ. Therefore this character could think he is God or working in the name of God and the people in the book and his opinion are going against religion.
ATMOSPHERE:
ATMOSPHERE The sound used is eerie .This gives the audience a
tense feeling of witnessing the unknown because the characters face is not shown –there in the dark. The sound at the beginning is at a slow tempo which contrast the pace of the action going on. Kyle Cooper uses also uses typography to set the atmosphere: the typography used looks engraved .This connotes that its been carved out with a knife again suggesting weapons and violence.
