A Partnership :

A Partnership

Project Components :

Project Components Industrial Wood to Energy Users Online Database Locations and data for boilers, advanced biofuels, and other facilities in the US and Canada Wood to Energy State of the Science Report Objective overview of current technologies, paths to the future, and market sustainability is in review

Industrial User Database :

Industrial User Database How was it developed? Collecting data critical and problematic Began collecting with initial survey to 2,300 industrial locations/companies Fewer than 150 responses despite repeated follow-up Began state and provincial contact process. Collect registered boiler and combustion information from government agencies through FOIA-type requests Response rate has been much better Received data sets from 38 states Currently researching with 6 states for additional data Six states have no data or no wood to energy facilities Process with Canadian governments has been slower

Industrial User Database :

Industrial User Database Database also includes: Forest products industry location database (developed by BioSAT project at UT) USFS FPL for pellet mill database US DOE/EPA Datasets Current Data Count ~27,000 locations ~3,000 wood to energy locations

Industrial User Database :

Industrial User Database Online framework established and operational Demonstrate facility listing Continuing to collect data from states and Canadian provinces Continuing to refine collected data and fill in data gaps

Known Gaps, Issues, Problems :

Known Gaps, Issues, Problems Commercial-scale, wood-fueled electric utilities not entered Additional data for CHP units forthcoming, specifically capacity Pellet facilities incorrectly coded in system Proofing by individual state personnel
