Role of a Smart transducer Smart transducers reduce the complexity of sensors like feeding pumps by providing fault- tolerance and distributed computing to the applications. Smart transducers are also known as smart sensors. These are called smart sensors because they compile the functional images and they also combine the complete image of the process in the vision field. These transducers are compact and have higher reliability. They often are a low-cost product. Smart transducers consist of components like cables and sensors which make it very accurate. A smart transducer is bound to send out the signals of electric current and pneumatic pressure. These signals are easy to translate which makes the process easier in execution. Devices like bulb thermometer are not able to be used because they have no electrical or pneumatic signals but when it enables it to give the corresponding signal by the help of some component the measuring unit becomes a transducer. How Smart transducers work A transducer receives high voltage electrical pulses which come in sequences such pulses are called transmit pulses when the wave sounds bounces back the transducer acts as a microphone then it catches the sound waves during the time between each transmit pulse which converts it back into electrical energy. Transducers consume only 1 of their time transmitting the electrical signals the remaining 99 of the time is spent just to listen to the echoes. A Transducer listens to the echoes way more than it does anything. There is an important component of smart transducer that is needed to be known that is pierozocremic element. This element converts the electrical pulses into the sound waves than in another process these sound waves are converted into electrical energy by pierozocremic element. Transducers may contain either one or more elements all linked together which is called an array.
