This mine has been developed into the Indiana #5 coal seam which, in this area, is known to be gassy and have some poor roof conditions. You are to conduct a preshift examination for the 1 South Section mmus 001 and 002 for the on-coming production shift. The mine is walking height and the mine is supported by 6 foot fully grouted roof bolts unless otherwise indicated. The section has been idled for two weeks and we have just moved belt up. Some of the section equipment has yet to be moved to this area. We plan to construct some cribs in the returns just outby xc10 on the next shift. Information for proper ventilation of the 1 South Section is in the Ventilation Plan. The Exhaust Fan is running and power is energized underground. The section map you will be provided was updated at the start of the last production shift two weeks ago. Section entries are numbered from left to right. You will begin your examination in the No. 2 Entry Intake/Primary Escapeway/Travelway. You are to report to the Examiner’s Station when you are finished with your examination and we will escort you to the location to fill out the examiner’s record book.Slide 3: Page 3 INDIANA PRE-SHIFT CONTEST 2011 Written Instructions PRESHIFT CONTEST PROBLEM RULES FOR 2011 NATIONALPRESHIFT CONTEST WILL BE FOLLOWED.
