Five Tips for Wearing Trainers with a Casual Outfit

Are you looking to branch out from stiff footwear into trainers? We don’t blame you. They are the comfiest choice of footwear out there. However, it’s difficult to pull off the look in a way that makes you seem fashionable, rather than sporty, but we’re going to teach you how to do it the right way. Here, you’ll learn how to look fashionable in your trainers.   Roll your jeans up and show your ankles. If wearing jeans, you really need to choose either skinny/slim jeans or tapered jeans. They look ok with flares, but flares aren't especially popular at the moment, so give it a bit of swerve for now.   When wearing with your skinny/slim/tapered jeans, make sure you roll up the bottom of the trousers so that you can see your anklebone. Be sure to roll them evenly, so that they appear the same on both sides. :

Slide4:

Don’t wear socks… There’s something about showing of an anklebone that comes across as sexy, so try not to hide it by wearing socks. Socks can end up giving you that train spotter look, which is kind of cool nowadays, but still a look many people wish to avoid.   …but if you do wear socks. OK, so we concede, it isn’t always practical to go without socks. It can mean that your feet end up sweating, and this can give you blisters and cheesy feet. There are two things to say here: If you don’t want your socks to show, then wear trainer socks. These sit inside the shoe and you can’t see that you’re wearing socks. It’s OK to wear socks if they have a cool pattern and the situation is right. For instance, it’s ok to wear a pair of Christmas socks with your brand new women’s Sketchers trainers . It’s cold, and you probably received both as a gift. This combo can work really well. It’s OK in spring, summer, and autumn too (a different pair than the Christmas ones, though), just make sure that the pattern is cool and funky – no black or white, unless you have one of each colour on each foot.

Choose block colours and classic styles. When you choose your trainers, they look much more fashionable if they’re a single colour. The two and three tone shoes tend to look more sporty and less iconic, so we’d recommend avoiding them.   As well as colours, stick to classic shapes. For example, the womens Sketchers trainers called “perfect fit” are awesome, so are the New Balance 373s or 420s, and Nike Air Max BW – all awesome trainers.   Choose wisely when pairing with a dress. It’s tricky to pull off the trainers/dress look. You need to match styles to do it well. So, if you’re wearing a formal dress, don’t wear trainers at all. Only wear trainers with informal dresses, such as summer dresses. Otherwise, it just looks odd – the world is not ready.   Are you interested in buying a new pair of trainers?
