The Piedmont area is known for its red colored clay. The color is caused by minerals in the clay. Piedmont means “foot of the mountains”. The Piedmont begins at the mountain region and extends to the fall line.

The Piedmont is also the most populated. There are many businesses and large cities. Atlanta is the capital of Georgia. It is located in the Piedmont. There’s even a park in Atlanta named after the region. It’s called…. Piedmont Park. Many people like to visit here to relax and have fun.
