Son of a Swede, Ecgtheow Epic Hero Mighty Warrior Prince of the Geats Becomes the King of the Geats What were Beowulf’s accomplishments? : What were Beowulf’s accomplishments? Many battles. Becoming winner in the sea against nine sea-monsters Defeating Grendel Defeating Grendel’s mother Defeating the Dragon Becoming King of the Geats. He stuck it deep into the dragon’s Flank. Gawain accepts the challenge made, by the Green knight. What was the Challenge? “If any so hardy in this house here holds that he is, if so bold be his blood or his brain be so wild, that he stoutly dare strike one stroke for another, then I will give him as my gift this guisarm costly, this axe- tis heavy enough-to handle as he pleases and I will abide the first brunt, here bare as I sit. If any fellow be so fierce as my faith to test, hither let him haste to me and lay hold of this weapon- I hand it over for ever, he can have it as his own- and I will stand a stroke from him, stock-still on this floor, provided thou’lt lay down this law: that I may deliver him another.” (Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, 34) When did Sir Gawain and the Green Knight take place? : When did Sir Gawain and the Green Knight take place? (My opinion) His contest with the Green Knight He accepts the challenge of the Green knight He stayed to true to his own word of letting the Green Knight strike him back How Sir Gawain show Heroism? : How Sir Gawain show Heroism? Gawain showed Heroism by striking the Green Knight with the axe. By showing courage during his journey Gawain no fear when the Knight struck him back with the axe.
