Independence Inquirers WebQuest for 3rd Graders Designed by Tracy Mercier tmercier@ewindsor.k12.ct.us

Introduction : 

Introduction You are U.S. Historians who have recently received a once – in – a – lifetime chance to travel back to when the Declaration of Independence, Constitution, & Bill of Rights were created. You will witness 1st hand the creation of the rights & freedoms that we enjoy today. Enjoy your trip!

Task : 

Task Using videos, documents, audio, & more you will… View the Declaration of Independence. View the U.S. Constitution. View the Bill of Rights. discuss how each of these documents affects our lives. imagine if you were there. What would you have included or left out of these documents?

Process : 

Process Decide who will be the… Reader Recorder Reporter Work with your group to view the Declaration of Independence, U.S. Constitution, & Bill of Rights. Record what you notice about each of the documents. Discuss & record how you think this affects us today. Discuss & record what you would have included or left out of each of the documents.

You decided what you would have included or left out of each document if you were there, & you explained why. Independence Enthusiast You “traveled” as a group most of the time. You needed some help to stay on your trip. You viewed & recorded what you noticed about the documents. It may be incomplete, or you may have some inaccuracies. You decided what you would have done if you were there, but your explanation may be confusing.. Independence Dabbler You “traveled” separately. You could not stay together to complete your trip.. You viewed & recorded only 1 document. You have limited information &/or many inaccuracies. You decided what you would have done if you were there, but did not give an explanation.

Conclusion : 

Conclusion You have completed your trip back to when the Declaration of Independence, U.S. Constitution, & Bill of rights had been created. Now take some time, & discuss with your group how we could… have similar documents in our classroom. use documents like these to help us reach our Hopes & Dreams. Remember to record your thinking!
