Slide 2: 

New born giraffes are about 6 ft. Their taller than most people. When their born, they weigh 45 kg, (99 lbs.) They grow 2.5 cm, (1’’) per day. Baby giraffes are vulnerable to lions, hyenas, and leopards. 50% of baby giraffes don’t make past 6 month’s of age. Baby giraffes start eating solid food about 2 month’s of age but their completely weaned about 18 month’s. Baby Giraffes

Giraffes favorite food are leaves from the acacia tree. The acacia tree has long thorns but, that doesn’t stop the giraffes! Giraffes use their 18-inch long tongue to get around the thorns. They also use their sticky saliva to coat any thorns that the giraffes can’t avoid. Giraffes Favorite Food

Horns Male and female horns are called ossicones. Males playfully fight with their horns. As males get older, calcium deposits on the skull and forms 2 bumps. At the most, 3 horns are on the giraffes head; 2 rear of the skull and 1 on the forehead. When people look at it, it may seem like 5 horns. Giraffes Horns
