What do you mean by a TYPICAL 3rd grader? :What do you mean by a TYPICAL 3rd grader? A child who is 7, 8, or 9 years – old Each child is different. Some children will display many of the characteristics mentioned while others will display less. Each child develops differently, and may display the mentioned characteristics at different times. Any child may be stronger in any academic or social area, while needing to grow in others.
