Big ideas/unit goals – Students will learn about the functions of the Federal Reserve System and understand the aims and tools of monetary policy and their influence on economic activities. 21st century skills: Students will learn Economics – a core core subject and 21st century theme. Students will practice Critical Thinking and Problem Solving. Students will access lesson information via the internet from links provided by the teacher.

Students will know what are the Federal Reserve’s three tools for adjusting the amount of money in the economy. 3. Students will understand why some monetary policy tools are favored over others. Assessments 1. Students will use the Required Reserve Ratio and the money multiplier formula to calculate the change in money supply. 2. Students will complete the worksheet problems on: Required Reserve Ratio, Discount Rate, Open Market Operations. 3. Students will take the interactive quiz at the end of the online lesson .
