Coping With Separation Anxiety in Babies :

Coping With Separation Anxiety in Babies http://www.separationanxietyinchildren.info/

Slide 2:

It is quite probable that you will not experience separation anxiety in babies when the baby is less than six months of age. Here are some tips that can help you cope and survive with the separation anxiety in babies symptoms.

Slide 3:

Introduce other carers In the mind of a baby you are the carer and anyone else who assumes this role may cause the baby to experience anxiety. It would be better to introduce the other carer when you are around as this will help the baby to become comfortable around another person. The baby will then understand that you are not leaving permanently and that another carer is in charge until you return.

Slide 4:

Act firmly when you say goodbye Don’t let the baby see you as weak when you say goodbye – act confident otherwise the baby may sense that you are anxious. The carer should have a game or toy at hand to involve the child when you say the quick goodbye.

Slide 5:

Give a time you expect to return Give the child a specific time that you are planning to return. This lets them know that although you are leaving for a short period you are in fact planning to return soon.

Slide 6:

Meet the needs of the child If you are finding that your baby is clingy you must continue to show your love. If you stop the cuddles, the holding and the talking your baby will not suddenly learn to become independent. Quite the opposite may occur in that the baby may learn not to want affection anymore.
