Premium member Presentation Transcript Slide 1: At the airport: Customs Slide 2: Traveling is always fun. Sometimes it can be difficult though. When traveling to another country its important we understand what is going on. Today we’ll show you words and expressions to use in airports, specifically customs. First thing you will need to know is passport. That is a little book you must have when traveling. On the next page you will see what it looks like. Slide 3: Without this book you would not be allowed into many countries. This page, has your name, age, nationality (the country you come from). Other pages may have information of other countries you visited. Slide 4: What is going on here? This officer is checking what is in the luggage. This officer is also there to do something. What do you think it may be? Slide 5: This is what it looks like when going through immigration and customs. Usually very long lines and a long time waiting. Slide 6: Now lets look at some vocabulary. Can you guess what this may be? They are “Exchange Students” Slide 7: Exchange students, are regular students. But they have one special difference. They study in other countries, different from their own. For example, an American student comes to Korea to study about Korea, and a Korean student will go to America to study about America. Slide 8: Where would and exchange student live or eat or sleep? A hotel? Where do you think they would sleep? Can you guess what this is? Is it a hotel room? How about a prison cell? Or maybe the home of a family member or friend? Its called a “dormitory” Schools have them for students who live far away. Slide 9: today’s expressions Purpose of visit: this means simply “why” Why are you coming to this country. My purpose? Was to teach English. Length of stay: this means… “how long” How long are you going to be in this country. Expiry date: food is no good after a time, same as passport. Passports must be renewed every few years. In Canada, one passport is good for 5 years. Then it expires. Slide 10: You are a German tourist. You have just come from Brazil. You want to stay for 3 weeks. You are just sight seeing. You are staying at a hotel. Name: Nationality: Germany Expiry Date: 1994 Number: 213456 Slide 11: You are visiting your uncle who lives in this country. You will be staying for the summer vacation (2 months). You will be staying at your uncle’s house.
