Business Websites – Why Having A Pro Do It May Be Critical For Success

PowerPoint Presentation:

You know businesses today have to have business websites, right? If not, your competitions business websites may cause you to fall by the wayside as your competition storms ahead of you. Having a website in 1995 was ‘cutting edge’ and was considered a luxury item.

PowerPoint Presentation:

In 2000 – 2005 it garnered extra trust that you were in it for the long haul. Websites back then cost a LOT of money, so you had to either be a techno geek, have one in the family or pay out some big bucks to have one built. Today! You don’t have that ‘luxury’ of choice and it has become a combination of an art form and solid business strategy.

PowerPoint Presentation:

Just for fun, next time someone asks you what your website is, tell them you don’t have one. They will look at you like you just farted as the elevator doors close or you handed them some very stinky cheese. The first thing that will run through their mind’s is “why not?”.

PowerPoint Presentation:

Business websites are so much more than just a space on the web. They represent your company. They represent your commitment to your customers. They represent YOU. So now that we got that out of the way – lets talk style! Style, aka image, is especially important when it comes to your business websites.

PowerPoint Presentation:

I honestly don’t know which is worse – going on Google and not finding you at all or having a site that looks like it hasn’t been touched since you built it on your Commodore 64?

PowerPoint Presentation:

Keep in mind – this may be the first impression your future client will have of you. You have to have something professional along with something that reflects the style or trademark of you business. People spend about 30 seconds or less judging your website before they decide to stay or move on and 30 seconds is actually being very generous.

PowerPoint Presentation:

So what does your current business website say about your business. How does it compare to the business websites of your competition? That’s something to think about, but even more important… How does anyone find your website in a sea of infinite websites? Google, Bing or Yahoo of course.

PowerPoint Presentation:

But how do you get your website to that elusive 1st page? An even tougher question: Everyone will tell you they can get you to the first page of Google, but who do you trust? Every single day I, an online marketing company, get a call or email offering to get me to the top spot of Google. Who can do this – For real!?

PowerPoint Presentation:

Not too many, it turns out. Lots of claims, but not much proof. Beyond that – you have to know what to look for. The right questions to ask. What good is the ‘top spot’ on Google if it is for a keyword no one uses to find what you do.

PowerPoint Presentation:

Bottom line – ask what keywords they will target and Google’s keyword tool will tell you how many people search for that term monthly. This is probably the most over used scam in SEO to take advantage of the unknowing new business owner. Getting back on track and back to getting real SEO done right…

PowerPoint Presentation:

Well, there is a lot of work that goes into accomplishing that, but if your business websites aren’t built right in the first place, the job becomes much, much harder. Not only is Google and the other search engines looking for relevant content, they also expect you to have certain things on your site. Like what? A XML sitemap, robot.txt files, privacy policies, terms of service, any disclaimers and contact pages to name a few.

PowerPoint Presentation:

I know there are many options out there – and software companies make it sound like all that work is already done for you, but more than often it is not, and the times it is, it is usually outdated or just plain wrong.

PowerPoint Presentation:

If you are serious about making money online and looking good doing it, look for a professional web designer. It may not cost as much as you think. You can also hire designers and SEO experts to consult you, which could save you even more money.

PowerPoint Presentation:

Bottom line is this. Building your own website might sound like a smart money saving move, but getting it done right the first time and paying a professional to do it may be the wisest money a new start up business or company whose business websites are not producing like they thought it should/would.

PowerPoint Presentation:

Think of it like this: When you get sick – I mean REALLY sick – where do you go? A Professional Doctor. When your cars “check engine light comes on in your 2010 automobile – where do you go? A Professional Mechanic
