Or so it seems. What with bed bug infestations being a thing Grandma may discuss from bygone days. But can bed bugs really be a scourge in the 21st century? Some, to their dismay, are finding this to be true.Slide 3: Take Alyssa. A recent speech pathology grad from the local community college, she woke up with what looked in the mirror to be a some kind of strange rash on the upper part of her back. It was itching something fierce which she felt was both odd and alarming.Slide 4: Her two roommates were gone for the weekend so she couldn’t get a second opinion. Krista was heading home for post finals rest and relaxation. While Elise was off on a second interview. All three of them wanted to move on with their lives ASAP now that they had graduated. Getting as far away from this dumpy double in the university district as they could.Slide 5: Of course that would mean leaving behind what one could most charitably describe as their “curb side chic” furnishings. But you’d be amazed at the good stuff students haul to the curb or throw into the alley dumpsters. While they wouldn’t describe themselves as dumpster divers per se, Krista and Elise had done their fair share of scarfing up better quality discards. Just last week they hauled in a perfectly good recliner someone was getting rid of. Crazy!Slide 6: This bothered Alyssa a bit having grown up in a high end zip code and all. But other than that she didn't give it much thought. That is until she noticed this almost pulsating red rash that had taken up residence near her shoulder.Slide 7: She recalled recently reading in the school newspaper about how bed bugs were infesting off campus housing. She lived in off campus housing. The author of the article had warned about the perils dumpster diving and curbside recycling presented when it came to bedbugs.Slide 8: She wondered if her itchy inflammation was somehow related to bed bug bites even though the thought repulsed her. Having a strange bug crawling on her skin, in her sleep, in search of a blood meal was repulsive after all. C’mon! Some bug feeding on her? Ugh!Slide 9: Besides this certainly wasn't what she expected bed bug bites to look like. From the bed bug bites pictures she found online the red raised bumps were more pronounced somehow. Somewhat more localized too it seemed. But just to be on the safe side she decided to head over to the campus medical clinic to get her itchy problem checked out by someone with more experience with nasty bed bug bite symptoms than she.Slide 10: Filled with the nagging suspicion that she had perhaps been bitten by bed bugs - of all things. She'd worry more about how to prevent bed bugs or better yet what to spray to kill bedbugs to get rid of them when she got back - diagnosis in hand. http://www.bedbugbedlum.com/ You do not have the permission to view this presentation.
