Sinusitis and Post Nasal Drip:

Sinusitis and Post Nasal Drip

Slide 2:

It is significant to note that a post nasal drip is the main factor behind many nasal problems but is certainly not the source of every single problem experienced in that area. Problems in the nasal area usually results from allowing post nasal leak to go undetected and/or untreated.

Slide 3:

This drip can be described as the feeling of a build-up of liquid or mucous at the back part of the throat. It is quite common and only becomes dangerous if it is not detected and treated. By the time a symptom of a sinus infection is spotted, there could already be a post nasal drip that was ignored.

Slide 4:

An infected sinus is only one type of problem that occurs in the nasal area. This article will look at various problems in the nasal area, in order to provide possible evidence that a relationship exists between something as insignificant as a leak in the nasal area and something significant that negatively impact the nasal area.

Slide 5:

Below are symptoms of a sinus infection that will point out the start of a problem in the nasal area. These symptoms usually start with post nasal drip:

Slide 6:

Congestion of the nasal area starts if this leak is not detected and is allowed to build up. Since the nose and throat are closely linked, the build-up of mucous and liquid can cause blockage when it travel to the nasal passages. Though this is a small nasal problem it can certainly develop into a big problem.

Slide 7:

Pressure in the Sinus - If the blockage is not cleared the problem progresses. The pressure felt in the sinus does not occur from the blockage; instead it results from the blockage staying in the nasal passages and becoming stagnant. Those groups of build-up develop into infested bacteria, leading to a bigger problem.

Slide 8:

Headache Caused by Sinus - Sinus pressure can usually be tolerated but the headache caused from the pressure can be almost intolerable. Also, a sinus headache may indicate that a more severe nasal problem exists. If the problem is allowed to progress to this point, there will be much more pain, work, time and money involved while trying to fix the problem.

Slide 9:

Sinusitis - This is quite common nowadays. It has been known that sinusitis causes students and office workers to be out of school and work for days and also weeks at a time. It targets areas that are easily accessed, particularly in children, and once it finds that target it does not want to leave.

Slide 10:

If the sinusitis results from a virus, it probably does not worsen pass a discomfort that is prolonged. If however, it progresses to a viral infection, it now becomes severe and may require surgery of the sinus.

Slide 11:

Sinus Surgery - This surgery is recommended when the nasal problem is most serious. However, if a post nasal drip is allowed to build up for an extended period of time, this surgery is an option. Infections can occur and progress speedily to such a severe state that it requires surgery.

Slide 12:

Other nasal problems may also be caused from undetected and untreated nasal drips. These problems include bad breath and ear infection. http://www.sinusinfectionhelp.com/
