What questions to ask during your MBA interview?

PowerPoint Presentation:

The interview is going good. No, wait! It is in fact going great. You have nailed everything that the interviewer, be it the Admissions Committee member or a student or an alumni. You are sure you have aced everything. Hours and hours of practice and persevering is paying off. Time to end strong and you find the interviewer ask. “Do you have any questions for me?” “Would you like to know anything more?” or some other twisted form of the same question . Damn! You are stuck

PowerPoint Presentation:

And more often then not, would be given an opportunity to ask something to the interviewer. Well, this is another chance for you to show the school that you have really thought it through and have done your research . And No, by this we do not mean tell them that you know everything that there is possibly to know. The last few minutes of the interview can be equally important, if not more, than the rest of the interview. You must, must, must finish strong.

PowerPoint Presentation:

There are some DO’S and DONT’S when it comes to the question . First , lets cover the basic DO’s : Do NOT miss out here. You just have to ask questions to demonstrate your keenness irrespective of how the interview has gone so far. And like with everything, we suggest that you prepare for it beforehand to do the same. DO Ask. Well that is basic, but we just want to re-emphasize it DO genuinely listen to the answer and maybe ask another follow up question on the answer or try to share a relevant story you might have.

PowerPoint Presentation:

DO your research beforehand DO prepare (at least) 3 different questions, as you may cover some topic during the course of your interview. (let us call this the 3Q approach!) DO ask questions that are relevant to you and your goals / hobbies DO tailor the question to the interviewer

PowerPoint Presentation:

Now for the DONT’S : DON’T doze off during the answer thinking that only asking the question was important. Be attentive. DON’T ask questions easily available on the website (e.g. average GMAT score etc .) DON’T try to stump the interviewer. Ask something relevant . DON’T ask a question just for the sake of asking. You might come out very superficial without even knowing DON’T ask for any feedback whatsoever. Everyone is anxious about their performance in the interview but this is certainly not a place to show it!

PowerPoint Presentation:

Remember , a good interview must be a two-way street . It is an interaction at the end of which the school should know more about you and at the same time, you also must feel richer about your understanding of the school.
