The cone is a metaphor for the human figure in society, who is defined by propaganda, reality and a tragic swing between the existing social climate and constant moral change. The pieces are merely sketches in search of a global and more obscure visual. My intention is to reach beyond the two-dimensional plane to achieve an intellectual balance between what is cautionary versus what is cliché.” Slide 4: The Cone Series comprises physical and design elements that Dante uses to acquire and then maintain a viewers’ intellectual and emotional interest through a compelling abstract presentation of strong visual narratives. My compass is faulty. Who do I look to for direction? Don’t count me out. Fading Slide 10: How do I fight a system that has betrayed me, a people that has disowned me and a world that has denied my existence? I live to fight another day. I am corroded by the daily grind, but “I don’t feel no ways tired...” @ Wits End Slide 11: You stack the odds against me. I have been colored, negro, black and African American but always absent from society’s consciousness. None of this, however, denies my humanity. Who Am I Slide 12: Sitting at my father’s feet as he reminisces about the good ol’ days, I take note of his instructions and guidance.
