Before you type more than about half a paragraph, it’s a good idea to save your work and give it a filename Begin typing….. Slide 3: 3 Click “File”… then “Save as…” Time to save….. Slide 4: 4 Your student number…(H) Click your student, number listed under “My Computer”. This usually shows up as the “H” drive Then click the “Open” button Save to your H drive….. Slide 5: 5 Give the file a meaningful name….. Your student number…(H) Don’t forget to name your file – something unique to that document Slide 6: 6 Then click the “Save” button Click “Save”….. Your student number…(H) Slide 7: 7 Your filename now appears in the title bar Watch the title change….. Slide 8: 8 Now you can continue typing your work Continue typing….. Slide 9: 9 Keep saving at regular intervals….. …then “Save” Click “File”…. Slide 10: 10 When you have finished….. Then click “Close” Click “File” X Or click the “X” instead Slide 11: 11 If you close the file without saving your work….. Click the “Yes” button. Don’t forget…. : 12 Don’t forget…. This method of saving can be used for most types of files and programs on the College computers You should never save your files onto the My Documents folder or any other folders on the C: Drive or Hard Drive. Files saved in these locations will be deleted automatically and you will lose you work! You do not have the permission to view this presentation.
