Do you feel tense, anxious or worry about things that have little chance of happening? If your fears interfere with your ability to make it through the day then you could have generalized anxiety disorder, otherwise known as GAD.

Everyone has anxious moments and that is normal. But when you suffer from GAD it can leave you exhausted both mentally and physically. You may have difficulty sleeping and feel fatigued from the worrying. Fortunately there are ways to free yourself from the worrying and finally relax your mind.

So what exactly is GAD? It is a common disorder that causes people to be overly nervous, worry constantly and feel tensed up as if unable to relax.

Unlike phobias which connect your fear to a specific thing, GAD is a generalized feeling of uneasiness that can overtake you. It is not like a panic attack which can be intense, it is something that last longer and makes your daily life more challenging.

Lets say you have generalized anxiety disorder, those normal things we worry about such as paying your bills, problems at home or work would be amplified more than what would be normal. You go through your day with an exaggerated feeling of worry even when nothing is happening, it could even be the littlest things that provokes the anxiety.

The trouble with GAD sufferers is the anxious thoughts cannot just be stopped when you want. It becomes second nature for you to worry over anything you may be doing or exposed to. Everyone worries to some level but when you suffer from GAD it becomes excessive, persistent and intrusive into your life.
