Welcome to Capers’ Classes Who is Mrs. Capers? What do I teach? Why do I have my Social Studies and English classes together? Why do you need a Google email account? What kinds of stuff can you do with a Google account?

Who is Mrs. Capers? : 

Who is Mrs. Capers? This is my picture. We’ll be spending lots of time together so you’ll know a lot more about who I am as the school year goes on.

What do I teach? : 

What do I teach? World History American History English Grades 9-12 American Government and Economics. A Wednesday elective.

Why do I have my Social Studies and English classes together? : 

Why do I have my Social Studies and English classes together? Since a lot of the activities in History, Government and Economics are also English activities, it is more efficient for you and me to put them together.

Here’s an Example of how the combination might work in my grades. : 

Here’s an Example of how the combination might work in my grades. Lets say the assignment is a research paper. The resources you choose and the notes you take may be graded as a history or government grade and the reading required, as an English grade. The actual paper may be graded for English on the six traits of writing, and history or government for the content.

Why do you and I need a Google Account? : 

Why do you and I need a Google Account? A Google Account gives you the key to a zillion sharing and creative programs. Google Docs – Lets you work on documents together, each at your own computer. Picasa- Lets you upload your pictures so that they can be grabbed and used from any computer.

What else is in Google? : 

What else is in Google? Of course, the email, called Gmail, allows you to send messages and attach documents, pictures, and links, to communicate. Gmail also is the gathering place to make your communication lists, which can then be transferred to lots of other programs.

What else is in Google? Google has easy-to-use applications for making your own Web page and Blog, which will allow you: Post your creations Special Links Messages Videos Pictures Artwork As well as giving a place for others to respond.

Why choose Google products? : 

Why choose Google products? They’re free They’re popular enough that they shouldn’t disappear off of the internet. They interface (can be used in conjunction with) many other free applications that are very useful. They have opportunities for privacy settings, if needed. Google is a fabulous home-base to gather your various applications and creations.

So…Let’s get started on a new year! If you are enrolled in 3 of my classes this semester (till December), and pass all of them (that means between 60% and 100% possible points), you will have three more credits toward the 21 or 22 you need to get your diploma! Let’s dig into our classes together and see if we don’t have some fun along the way!
