There is this concept called narrow casting which means rather than casting a really wide net, we are casting a much smaller net. When we are talking about individuals looking for something in their own neighborhood, you want a narrow cast. If you’re looking for a dentist in New York you want to find a dentist in NY, not one in New Mexico. If you are looking for a restaurant in Miami, you want to find a restaurant in Miami, not one in Las Vegas. Google has changed the way search results are displayed. But you really can’t look at a Google Places Page unless you look at mobile. Mobile is very, very huge and when combined effectively with your Google listing, you will leave your competition in the dust and totally dominate your local market. Local is not sitting at home on your computer looking for things via your web browser. Local is not getting search engine rankings. Local has everything to do with the fundamental shift in the way people are communicating. The Smart Phone is becoming the way the world communicates. Traditional offline media is declining as more and more people go online to find, research, and decide which local products to buy, what services to use, or where to dine.
