Maintaining wood stove efficiency

Slide 2:

A wood stove is a popular wood burning appliance made of metal and is usually fitted inside a fireplace cavity. New catalytic stoves are highly efficient; they provide a lot of heat although they only function efficiently when the throttle valve is close to maximum, they can burn to temperatures of 1100 degree Fahrenheit, which is actually hot enough to burn gases that are combustible. Wood stove inserts have components that enables them to burn combustible gases and particulate matter before they are released through the chimney. Secondary air is heated through a metal channel and is afterwards fed into the insert above the fire. The heated air burns changeable gases just above the burning logs with the combustion level maintained.

Slide 3:

Traditional wood fireplaces have one air source below the wood, while the air source in a modern wood stove provides the existing volatile gases with oxygen. When there is enough oxygen, heated air also burns, moreover, wood stove inserts are designed with insulated fireboxes which reflects back heat, ensuring that the turbulent gases remain hot enough for combustion. In advanced wood stove inserts, hot air is funneled towards the glass door keeping them clean, hence viewing the flame ribbons through the clear glasses becomes appealing and offers a cozy and charming ambience in a home.

Slide 4:

Depending on the design of the wood stove, the insert can either be installed in an existing masonry or can be fitted in a way that it extends outwards into the room, protruding wood stove inserts are more efficient because they provide extra radiant heat via the exposed surfaces. The National Fire Protection Association recommends that a wood stove be fitted with a direct connection between the unit’s waste outlet and the closest flue liner section; this allows gases and smoke to pass easily and faster, while the condensation level in the flue and the formation of unwanted creosote is reduced. Creosote is actually a viscid, caustic, foul smelling and highly combustible substance that coats the inner lining of the chimney if no preventative measures are taken. This substance is formed when changeable gases that are emitted during burning combine and condense on their way out through the flue .

Slide 5:

Efficient wood stove inserts are normally not used for heating the whole house, but instead act as auxiliary heating sources in homes. A wood stove is environmentally friendly since it reduces emissions to almost zero. Homeowners who have not made up their minds on whether they should improve qualities of their old wood fireplaces by either renovating or refurbishing them, might as well take the plunge by acquiring these adorable appliances because, wood stove inserts offer many good benefits, for instance, a wood stove is clean, affordable and is therefore convenient for use. These units have also been approved and certified for use in mobile homes. Mobile home approved units are safe, efficient and are available in perfect sizes that can fit such homes, it is up to the consumer to select one that best fits his or her mobile home.
