February 22nd, 2011 At the heart of Agarest Senki 2, we have a turn-based role playing game with lengthy story with occasional suggestive but rather naughty conversations and CGs. It is no surprise that the game gets a CERO-C rating in Japan but like its predecessor,thegamespansgenerationofheroesandinorder to do so, you need to do a “Soul Breed” with your heroine. To put it simple, produce an offspring with your desired heroine to continue the story. hmm With Agarest Senki 2, the game is organised in generations (think of it as chapters) as your offspring will breed again and work towards the ending of the saga. The game, however, could get a little bland at times as the world map takes on the tradition of point-and-click system, followed by conversations that relate to the story. It gets too routine at times and you will be left wondering what are you exactly doing at times. Luckily, your heroines aren’t boring types and there is quite a huge freedom to develop your hero’s favor with them. These heroines take on the characteristics of typical anime archetypesthatyouloveandhate,conversationscanbesimply fillers at times during the game which puts the game in quite a negative light. Mini games are found such as an intriguing massaging or hot bath mini-game which you can use to increase favour with your heroines. PlayStation Move 3 Published by: VR-Zone controller is supported for these mini-games, so you get to have lots of action with your heroine. ^^ The game adopts grid-based battle gameplay, putting the player in the “Movement” and “Action” phase. Characters can be positioned across the field in a specific way to “Combo” witheachother,dealingsomenastydamagetotheenemy.Just like its predecessor, there is no “MP” in the game but rather Action points which determine the actions you can perform and it recharges at the beginning of every round. To add some variety, every character has their personal ultimate skill which is performed using SP, gained during battle by killing enemies or when your characters are killed. Notmuchhasbeenchangedsoreturningplayerswillberather at ease when trying the gameplay You get the gist of it if you have been playing similar games, your offspring’s stats is determined by your heroine’s “favour level” towards your hero. The game rewards you with plenty of CG artworks akin to a visual novel game and some of them are rather suggestive Battle and field graphics take on the form of character sprites in 3D rendered world with minimal detail. Players are who hoping got great detail will be disappointed and will want to skip the game. On a positive note, story scenes are lovely. The CGartworksaregoodandcharacterdesignswiththelovely2D background is definitely appealing. The sound department is a hit and miss, some scenes produce the lovely tracks that set the mood while others were rather bland. The seiyuu (voice actors) cast in the game are amazing though, some of the common names such as Endou Aya, Kana Asami, Inoue Marina and Sakakibara Yui are in the game.
