Army Natick Soldiers System Center in Natick, Massachusetts. We have the dedicated mission to maximize the Warrior’s survivability, sustainability, mobility, combat effectiveness and quality of life by treating the soldier as a system.” http://nsrdec.natick.army.mil/ Slide 4: Purpose of Externship Conduct a Field Test To collect data on liking/disliking of MRE, UGR, Heat & Serve Rations Testing of proposed new food items and current foods Important to evaluate rations under appropriate conditions with appropriate people Slide 5: Data Collection Collect data in person for each meal UGR: We record what is eaten and Soldiers rate how they liked UGR. MRE: We issue Soldiers survey with MRE that they complete and return next day. Result: Data compiled at Natick and used to help determine which foods are added and which are dropped. Slide 6: Responsibilities Work with same set of 25 Soldiers Bring all surveys to field each day. Collect data, clean and code surveys. Maintain roster of collected surveys. Be prompt and punctual. Support team. Ask for and give help when appropriate. Slide 7: STEM CAREERS Behavioral Research Psychologists Engineers Food Technologists Dieticians ….And any career which involves the anthropological, behavioral, cognitive, biological, mathematical, and physical sciences necessary for treating the Soldier as a system.
