Slide 2: HELLO FROM GRAVINA IN PUGLIA ITALY Slide 3: A big agricultural center on the steep sides of a deep ravine. It’s situated 56 km far from bari and it’s surrounded by green hills. GRAVINA IS... Slide 4: THE NEAREST AIRPORT IS IN BARI ... Slide 5: Gravina in Puglia is located in the province of Bari, in an area marked by the presence of hollows and ravines. We have numerous archeological sights, that’s mean that Gravina’s territory was inhabited since the Paleolithic Age. Later the city was colonized by the Greeks and Romans, as confirmed by the finds of villages and graves. His history is very ancient. Its monuments and its landscape are worthy of attention. Gravina full of charm and mystery Slide 6: The canyons are deep rocky gorges of karst origin. The canyons Slide 7: The Castle (XIII century) today is an impressive ruin on a hill near Gravina. It was built from Frederick II in 1228-1229. The Castle Slide 8: It’s an old cave-church dedicated to Saint Michael. It was the first cathedral of Gravina, situated in the rocky landscape of our town. Saint Michael's cave Slide 9: This place is called in this way , because the ancient image of Our Lady was with a blue cloak and a silver star on it. The church was built with tuff- bricks at the edge of the "Gravina’s Canyon“. Our Lady of the Star Slide 10: It was built in the XI Century. It was enlarged during the Renaissance. The Cathedral Slide 11: The crypt (XII century) has a single nave. The frescoes depict the saints. In the apse we have the majestic Christ’s picture. St. Vito’s Church Slide 12: The Foundation E. P. Santomasi is located in the heart of ancient town. There are inside eighteenth-century furniture and a small archaeological museum. Foundation "Ettore Pomarici Santomasi" Slide 13: This walls are located in a neighborhood. They were built around fourteenth- fifteenth century. The ancient wall tower Slide 14: The Villa lies in the heart of town and bordering the historic center near the modern part of Gravina. In the Villa we can see two fountains, a Monument to died soldiers and the clock with four dials. The”Villa” Slide 15: It’s a public fountain in Gravine built on sixteenth century.
