With all the current environmental issues and the need to implement programs to encourage lifestyle changes, Wal-Mart innovated the PSP program to encourage all their employees to come up with their own PSP and commit to it. Wal-mart Incorporated, a well known, worldwide retail store is making a large impact on environmental sustainability, through dedication by providing: environmentally friendly products, using recycling programs, educating the public, and offering incentives to consumers and their suppliers. The information throughout this presentation will provide educational facts about the impact Wal-Mart has made and will make toward reaching all their sustainability goals and the innovative programs that have enabled others to achieve theirs. As stated by Wal-Mart’s Engineer Director, James McClendon(2008), "We're all in this together." * Personal Sustainability Project * : * Personal Sustainability Project * Global Supply Chain: Wal-Mart uses More than 60,000 suppliers provide Wal-Mart with merchandise located in 55 countries. This a Global Network: Working together, as a whole, dedicated to protecting our environments resources. (Castro-Wright, 2008) * Personal Sustainability Project * : * Personal Sustainability Project * Supplier Sustainability Goals Improved scorecard to track suppliers progress, by February 2009 Compliance with environmental laws and regulations - by 2011 Commit to reduce energy use by 200 percent – 2012 Proposal to eliminate defective merchandise - by 2012 (Mohan, 2008) * Personal Sustainability Project * : * Personal Sustainability Project * Walking among 200 skylights on top of LasVegas' newest Wal-Mart Supercenter, is Wal-Mart's engineering director James McClendon, right, and Store manager Lynne Leckie (Edwards, 2008). Photos by John Gurzinski Located in Southwest LasVegas, on March 19, 2008, a new high efficient (HE.5 prototype), Wal-Mart store opened, and says this Supercenter is the most efficient store it has ever opened.
