Overview:

Overview Abstraction Apparatus Algorithm Working plan Working circuit Enhancement Conclusion

Abstraction:

Abstraction The main purpose of this project is to control the movement of the lift. According to the switch pressed, it will elevate either up or down as like the real world lift.

Apparatus:

Apparatus Personal Computer. Trainer Board. Parallel cable. Wires. Stepper motor. 4 resistances. 4 transistors. 4 diodes.

Algorithm:

Algorithm START() GET INPUT FROM USER. if no input, remain idle. 3. DETECT ROTATION. determine the direction and extent of the rotation of stepper motor from the input value. 4. Move() rotate the motor and hence the lift to the intended floor. a. move_upward() b. move _downward() 5. END()

Working plan:

Working plan The demo lift will be connected with a wire to the stepper motor. We can use stepper motor to elevate the lift easily either to the upper direction or downwards. A key will be pressed and getting the value of the key, the circuit will determine, to which extent and direction, the stepper motor will rotate.

Working plan cont…:

Working plan cont… In the PM type stepper motor, a permanent magnet is used for rotor and coils are put on stator. The stepper motor model which has 4-poles is shown in the figure.

Working plan cont…:

Working plan cont… The first pin is connected to D0 of the parallel port. Each successive pin of the stepper motor is connected to successive data lines on the parallel port. If this order is not correct, the motor will not rotate, but will wiggle around from side to side.

Working plan cont…:

Working plan cont… The clamp circuit shown does not connect the clamp directly to the supply voltage. Instead, it uses a zener diode.

Working plan cont…:

Working plan cont…:

Working plan cont… This ensures that the decaying current in the coils are not abruptly cut off, which produces a lot of heat. The software written for this project is simple, it involves setting the bits on the port on and off in a specific sequence.

Enhancement :

Enhancement If possible the door will be opened when it reaches the intended floor. After a certain amount of time, it will be closed.

Conclusion:

Conclusion This seems a simple project. We will try to add some more features to it if possible. We hope that we be able to complete the lift controller project successfully in due time.
