Urban Sprawl : 

Urban Sprawl This is the name given for the growth of cities into the countryside as transport improved. To try and stop this GREEN BELTS were made around cities to protect the countryside. Here building was highly restricted. However there is a lot of pressure for development of this RURAL – URBAN FRINGE One example is the proposed NEWCASTLE GREAT PARK SCHEME. What other benefits did this new location have? This left the centres disused and derelict. Councils are now aiming to use these BROWNFIELD sites to encourage people to move in.
