Mission Statement: :

Mission Statement: “By recognizing that instructional media and technology are a part of present day living, Julia P Bryant must take an active role in preparing its students to become members of a rapidly changing society. Instructional media and technology should be used when it is an efficient and effective medium in accomplishing the goals of teaching, learning, and accessing information as related to the curriculum.” (Mission Statement of Langston Chapel Elementary: http://www.bulloch.k12.ga.us/lces/Handbooks/media_handbook.htm )

Relevant Policies :

Relevant Policies 24 Hour Advance Notice is required for class activities Large entire classes must be accompanied by the teacher Students can not check out no more than 3 books which are due in two weeks Students who have overdue books are not allowed to check out new books Teachers who allow students to check out books under their name are responsible for books Board of Education Policy states that any student or staff member who loses or damages a book will be charged: $15.00 Website for Media Handbook: http://www.bulloch.k12.ga.us/lces/Handbooks/media_handbook.htm

Desired Changes: :

Desired Changes: Instead of 24 hour notice, I would prefer teachers to give me at least a 48 hour notice. This way I will adequate time to collaborate with the teacher on what activities he or she wants me to plan. I would prefer not to charge $15.00 for all lost or damage books, I would prefer to base the fine on the condition and the age of the book.

Summary of Relevant Policies :

Summary of Relevant Policies The Media Center will always be open to all faculty, staff, students and community. The Media Center will provide instructional materials and resources for instructional use in the classrooms and for student use at home. The Media Center will be a partner technology hub in which faculty, students and guardians can receive guidance in the area of technology.

Photograph of Front Entrance :

Photograph of Front Entrance Currently this is front entrance of Julia P Bryant’s Library. This is one aspect of the current library that I would add to the new facility. I believe that having a Mural painted on the outside of the library entrance creates a warm and inviting atmosphere; in addition, it creates an excitement of reading. Description of New Facility :

Description of New Facility The facility for Julia P Bryant will have a modern architectural format. I will still use traditional furnishing such as bean bag chairs, wooden tables, wooden chairs (with cushion) and wooden shelves. However, for the reading center located in front of the book shelves in the center of the library, I would like to add full cushion arm chairs and tall floor lamps to create a relaxing mood for faculty and staff who enjoy coming to the library to take their breaks or even a quick “breathier”.
