Demographics of Langston Chapel Elementary Langston Chapel Elementary consist of the following grade levels: Pre – k through 5th grade. The student population is about 527 students and the teacher to student ratio is about 1 to 16. Total number of Pre-K staff: 6 Total number of Kindergarten staff: 13 Total number of 1st grade staff: 12 Total number of 2nd grade staff: 6 Total number of 3rd grade staff: 6 Total number of 4th grade staff: 5 Total number of 5th grade staff: 5

Based on the demographic information collected, the school library collection area I decided to evaluate is Langston Chapel Elementary’s African American History Collection. Langston Chapel Elementary holds about 13,555 instructional materials and reading resources total. The instructional resources that are available for student and faculty use are as followed: books, kits, videos, listening centers, equipment such as overhead projectors, cassette, CD and record players. Out of the 13,555, Langston Chapel Elementary holds about 1126 Historical Books, and 17 of those titles are African American Historical Books.

Budget My current budget I have been allocated to develop this collection is $4,000. My budget area has been broken down into three areas to develop this collection Reading Materials Instructional Videos Instructional Materials for Special Need Students

Estimated budget amount for books = $85.81 Estimated budget amount for instructional videos = $699.70 Estimated budget amount for instructional materials for special needs students and ESOL students = $2836.90 Estimated total amount = $3622.50 $3622.50 from $4000 leaves the amount of $377.50, which I could use to aid in covering the cost of shipping and handling.

Conclusion : 

Conclusion Overall, purchasing more African American Historical resources will strengthen Langston Chapel Elementary in developing a culturally enriched diverse historical library collection.
