This is the main teaching tool I will use to teach adaptive skills in my classroom. END Prerequisite SkillIdentifying a Brush : Prerequisite SkillIdentifying a Brush These are hair brushes These are not hair brushes END Step 1: Brush Hair : Step 1: Brush Hair Begin by holding hair brush in dominant hand Gently stroke the ends of long hair to get out knots Next stroke hair brush from the top to the bottom, including all hair END Step 2: The formation of a Ponytail : Step 2: The formation of a Ponytail Gather hair with both hands and bring the hair together in the back END Step 3:Ponytail Holder : Step 3:Ponytail Holder With one hand holding the gathered hair, wrap the hair band around the thumb, pointer finger, and middle finger END Step 4:Creation of the ponytail : Step 4:Creation of the ponytail Take the hair band with the opposite hand’s pointer finger and thumb and wrap it around the gathered hair. Continue to wrap it twice, three, possibly four times depending on how thick your hair is. END Step 5:Complete : Step 5:Complete Divide the ponytail in half. With each hand, pull on a half of the hair to make the ponytail tighter. END Step 6:Making it last : Step 6:Making it last If desired, place bobbi pins around lose hairs to ensure the ponytail stays secure. To do this, place a hand over lose hair while sliding the bobbi pin over it with the other hand. END Ponytail Variations:Placement of the ponytail : Ponytail Variations:Placement of the ponytail One may place their ponytail low near the neck, in the middle, or up high above the ears, or even to the side. END Ponytail Variations:Pigtails : Ponytail Variations:Pigtails Pigtails are essentially the same as a ponytail except there are two. To do this, after brushing, create a part down the center of your head with a comb. Then follow the ponytail steps for both sides of the head.
