We are getting ready to build our website and set the world alight. Its not difficult as it sounds. I will guide you through the step by step procedure for Building a Website from Scratch. All you need to do is follow my instructions without fail. So lets start..

Slide 3:

First, we need to decide on a domain name. We will be focusing on a .com domain now because it is highly trusted. Head over to Namecheap to register the domain.

Slide 4:

Next thing we need to do is getting a web space to put our website online. Hostgator is the world’s best hosting provider I have seen. Starting at $4.9 per month, you can’t find a better web hosting provider which is secure and cheap. So now visit Hostgator and order a hosting package of your choice. Starter plan will do the job for now.

Slide 5:

Now we need to connect our domain name with the hosting server. For that check the email you got from Hostgator and you will see something like “Nameservers”. Copy it and paste it into a notepad. Next login to your Namecheap account and click “Manage Domains” . Click on your recently registered domain and on your left, you will see an option called “Nameserver” or “DNS”. Click on that and add the nameservers you copied earlier from Hostgator. Click “Save” and you are done.

Slide 6:

Now come back to Hostgator account and click on “Addon Domains” option on your account homepage. Enter your registered domain and type in a new password and click “add”. Now you are good to go.. We now have our domain and hosting registered and are ready to build the website. We will be using Wordpress to build our site, because it is the easiest method for everyone.

Slide 7:

Follow these steps: First, login to your Hostgator account. Login page will be like http://yourdomain.com/cpanel On your Homepage, Under services/Software Click on “Fantastico De Luxe” On the next page, left side click on WordPress under Blogs category and now Click on “New installation” Select the domain on which you want to install Wordpress. Pick your recently registered domain from the drop down menu. You also need to mention your blog username and password, which you will be using to access to admin panel. Now click on “Install” button.

Slide 8:

On the next page, it will show you information about database which it is going to use. So copy and paste your database and mysql username and keep it handy for future use. Click on Finish Installation to complete the process. On the next page you will get the confirmation about the wordpress install. And you can go to your admin area by adding wp-admin suffix to your domain name. Ex - http://yourdomain.com/wp-admin Wow, We have successfully installed Wordpress. Now It’s time to configure your Wordpress Site.

Slide 9:

First visit your site’s admin page and login with the username and password created during the installation of wordpress. You will be greeted with a nice dashboard. On left side, Click on “Settings” and then on “General” . You can specify a short description for your site here. Be sure to click on “Save” if you update anything. To make sure your blog is visible to search engines, follow this step : Under Settings> Privacy > Enable   “your blog is visible to search engine”. And Click “Save” That’s all for Basic Configuration.

Slide 10:

Wordpress has the ability to install plugins which increase the functionality of our site. There are thousands of plugins to choose from and Wordpress makes it very easy to install them from within the admin panel. Simply go to “Plugins” on your left panel, ”add new” from the left hand menu. You will see a search box where you will be able to find all your plugins by name. Ex:- If you need a gallery plugin type “gallery” into the search box and you will get many. Click on “Install now” option to use that plugin on your website.

Slide 11:

Once you are satisfied with the configuration settings, we can start adding content on your site. Here you have 2 options, You can create pages on your site or you can add posts daily as a blog. Both Options are accessible on your admin page left panel. Most Common Websites consists of mainly 4 pages: Home | Company Info | Products | Contact Us

Slide 12:
