You may want to know about Green Tea Products :

You may want to know about Green Tea Products The origins of this ubiquitous beverage are shrouded in the fables of China dating back to 2000 B.C. The shrub, botanically classified as Camellia sinensis , was probably referred to by its Chinese name for centuries, while it was consumed only in the regions surrounding the Chinese culture. However, at some stage its soothing appeal extended to the palette of the western world and donned the name tea as we know it, although until the seventeenth or eighteenth century, it would have been an herbal tea, with indeterminate constituents. Now, the word tea is a derivative of the word ‘ tisan ’, which is in turn, derived from ptisan . The word ‘ ptisan ’ was a generic term for any herbal concoction, but mostly a brew of peeled barley or the commonly known barley water. Over time, the barley water was augmented with other herbs for flavor, or medicinal potency. However , the specific modern taste of this beverage, as we know it today, evolved when the leaves of this shrub were roasted before being set to steep. In the nineteenth century, the British exploited this universal hankering for its taste and established sprawling plantations in different parts of its empire, dedicated to the industry of manufacturing this drink. It was such a successful venture that they adopted it as their national beverage and called it TEA! Today the benefits of tea have people imbibing it more than any other drink excepting water. In 1908, a tea merchant named Thomas Sullivan, invented the tea bag – a pouch made of silk to hold the roasted leaves while they steeped, and to remove them when done. This gave us the clear beverage without any dregs. There are over 3000 varieties of tea these days. Tea that is brewed from the leaves of the shrub Camellia sinensis through a process that restricts oxidation to negligible levels is now promoted as the foremost health tea, known popularly as Green Health Tea.
