Use objects that begin with letter D. (dots, diamonds, dirty). By creating image students can feel how the letter is formed. This helps memorize how the muscles feel when writing this letter. Find the letter /Dd/ pictures in the magazine/newspaper-cut and paste into booklet Letter Sounds : Letter Sounds Say the name of letter /Dd/ objects. Students are listening for the /duh/ at the beginning of words. This helps them connect the symbol to the sound. Practice hand gesture while saying the name of the pictures in your letter /Dd/ booklet Letter Sort : Letter Sort Which bucket does it belong? Working in pairs play the game “Guess Which bucket?” Practice saying the name of the objects and sorting into two piles: those that begin with the letter /Dd/ sound and those that do not. Example of Assessment : Example of Assessment 18 Teacher Reflection: : Teacher Reflection: When I previously taught this lesson, numerous students were not able to master letter recognition and sound. I believe that by using the three instructional strategies I chose students will be able to retain the information better. These strategies offer repetition, repetition, repetition. Also they use pictorials which help form a mental image for students. When I reteach this lesson I know that the students with score average or above average on assessments.
