Premium member Presentation Transcript Fight Against Hunger : “There are people in the world so hungry, that god cannot appear to them except in the form of bread.” Fight Against Hunger Acknowledgement : Acknowledgement I’m really thankful to everyone who all supported me, for I have completed my project effectively and moreover on time. I’m am also grateful to my computer teacher who gave to the opportunity to make this project. I thank her for her overall support. Last but not the least, I would like to thank my parents and friends who helped me a lot in gathering a lot of different information and ideas to make this project unique. Broader View : Broader View In the world today: 852 million people are undernourished 300 million children daily go to bed hungry Everyday 25,000 people die due hunger out of which 66% are children One child dies due to hunger every 3.6 seconds All malnourished people live under $1 a day Broader View : Broader View Percentage of population affected by under nutrition by country, according to United Nations statistics. Broader View : Broader View This graph compares 3 countries, affected by hunger. Causes : Causes Population Growth : Population Growth When production match the demand of food caused by growth of population, it leads to subsistence crisis Rising Food Prices : Rising Food Prices Rise in the food inflation is a major cause for hunger as the poor can’t afford food. Unbalanced Food Consumption : Unbalanced Food Consumption On one hand people are suffering from hunger whereas the others waste! Drought : Drought Drought can affect the production of crops which further would lead to food shortage in an area. Lack Of Rights : Lack Of Rights In countries where there is no democracy, inequality divides the food unequally. Effects : Effects Malnutrition : Malnutrition It is the imbalanced consumption of nutrients It further lead to 2 consequences: Illness Mortality Malnutrition is said to be the worst threat to world health Orange Ribbon: Awareness Ribbon for malnutrition Malnutrition : Malnutrition There were 923 million malnourished people in the world in 2000, an increase of 80 million since 1990. Nutrient Deficiency : Nutrient Deficiency Nutrient deficiency is absence or insufficiency of some factor needed for: Normal growth Development of body Lack of nutrients cause deficiency diseases which lead to growth problems If continues, leads to starvation Starvation : Starvation It is the state of severe reduction of nutrients It is the most extreme form of malnutrition If starvation is prolonged, it leads to: Organ Damage Death What can we do? : What can we do?
