What is a Transformation? :What is a Transformation? A transformation is a change we make in the position of a shape (or figure) on a grid.
One form of Transformation :One form of Transformation Is a Translation
-- moving a figure from one
spot to another on a grid.
The object does not change :The object does not change It just moves!
Slide 5:Move this triangle to the right 10 units, and down 9 units. Here is an example of a translation.
Slide 6:The new triangle which has red line segments has moved to the right 10 units and down 9 units. Each point of the triangle has moved to the right 10 units and down 9 units.
Slide 7:Move this parallelogram left 5 units and up 1 unit. Here is another example of a Translation.
Slide 8:The new parallelogram which has red line segments has moved to the left 5 units and up 1 unit. Each point has been moved to the left 5 units and up 1 unit.
