COMPONENTS OF MAINBOARD TROUBLESHOOTING OF MOTHERBOARDINTRODUCTION: INTRODUCTION Motherboard is a primary and that most important component of the computer. This is sometimes called as the Main board, Base board, System board, Planar board, Logic Board, Printed circuit board and Desktop Board.WHAT IS MOTHERBOARD ? ?: WHAT IS MOTHERBOARD ? ? The Motherboard is the biggest board in your system unit. The Motherboard is one big communication highway. The Motherboard represents the logical foundation of the computer. The Motherboard goes by many others name: Main board, system board & desktop board.COMPONENTS OF MOTHERBOARD: COMPONENTS OF MOTHERBOARD CPU SOCKET DIMM SOCKETS ISA SLOTS PCI SLOTS AGP SLOT IDE CONNECTOR CHIPSETS FLOPPY DRIVE CONNECTOR CMOS ATX CONNECTOR BIOS COM PORTSCPU SOCKET: CPU SOCKET The Central Processing Unit (CPU) is the chip on the motherboard that acts as the "computer's brain" .Most people know them simply as "processors". The CPU is made up of two important components: the arithmetic logic unit (ALC) & the control unit (CU). Arithmetic and Logic Unit (ALU) – performs Arithmetic and Logic Operations Control Unit (CU) – provides the control signals for performing different operationsDIMM SOCKETS: DIMM SOCKETS The socket where connects with RAM(Random Access Memory), is a piece of motherboard. RAM is used to store ( temporary store) data while the computer is working. That means when you shut down or restart your computer, the data lost.ISA SLOTS: ISA SLOTS ISA Slots (Industrial Standard Architecture) for inserting ISA slots. Only some card that proper 16 bit system can be inserted here. However, it is not common recently because PCI slots are preferred instead of ISA slotsPCI SLOTS: PCI SLOTS PCI slots (Peripheral component interconnect) for connecting PCI cards. PCI slots are designed 32 bit system so, it uses more common to ISA slots because it is much faster than ISA slots. That means card’s working performance is increase .AGP SLOTS: AGP SLOTS AGP slots (Accelerated Graphics Port). There is only one on the motherboard. AGP slot are created special for display card. This slots 32-bit bus interface for graphics adapters developed from the PCI bus .IDE CONNECTOR: IDE CONNECTOR IDE (Integrated Drive Electronics). There are two IDE connector on the motherboard these connector for hard disc and CD-ROM These connectors provide connection among motherboard-hard disc and motherboard-CD ROM by data cable.CHIPSETS: CHIPSETS The chipset is a kind of processor that manages interface relation (hardwired) and provide data transfer. In generally, there are two types of chipset which are called North Bridge and South Bridge.FLOPPY DRIVE CONNECTOR: FLOPPY DRIVE CONNECTOR Floppy disc plug in here. Data transfer is provided by data cables. It has 34 pins used to connect floppy driveCMOS: CMOS CMOS battery is the motherboard's battery. This is used to allow the CMOS to keep its settings. BIOS takes all of the adjustment options about installed hardware from the CMOS (Complementary Metal-Oxide Semiconductor) chip. While the computer turn off, CMOS saves the data.ATX CONNECTOR: ATX CONNECTOR This is one of two power connections that supply power to the motherboard. This connection will come from your Power Supply. Power supply provides to get necessary energy with the helping of power unit thanks to ATX connector.BIOS: BIOS BIOS (Basic Input/output System) which has special software in order to connect between a operating system and motherboard. BIOS task is to prepare hardware and software for working computer. This process is known booting. Some main features can adjust via BIOS in the motherboard.COM PORTS: COM PORTS COMs ports, where is part of computer, are motherboard’s external connection is via here.TROUBLESHOOTING of MOTHERBOARD: TROUBLESHOOTING of MOTHERBOARD Check all connectors and cables on the motherboard. The connection must be tight & must be placed properly. Ensure that the motherboard with the CPU, Video card & the memory is properly connected to the power supply. Checks the system temperature and ensure that the Heat sink and fan are working properly .THANK YOU : THANK YOU You do not have the permission to view this presentation.
