For I know that nothing good lives inside my flesh because the will is present in me but how to do what is good I am not able. For the good that I want to do I do not do but I do the evil I do not want to do. So if I do what I do not want to do it is not I who does it but the sin that lives in me. Romans 7:17- 20 The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak. Matthew 26:41 Action Plan Admit that you need God’s help to stop this addiction. Accept that Jesus the Son of God can help you overcome the addiction because: With God all things are possible. Matthew 19:26

10 © Dr. Miriam Kinai http://www.ChristianStressManagement.com/ Email almasihealthcareyahoo.com Christian Assertiveness Training Christian Assertiveness Training is a Christian course which uses examples from the Bible to teach you how to assert yourself so that you can learn to speak up for yourself without hurting others or down playing your rights needs and wants. By the end of this course you will have learnt: How to assert yourself to your superiors How to assert yourself to your peers How to assert yourself to your juniors How to stop being a people pleaser How to say “No” nicely Buy Christian Assertiveness Training Amazon Ebook Buy Christian Assertiveness Training PDF Ebook Christian Assertiveness Training Book Excerpt We can see a good example of how you can assert yourself to your juniors using the ASSERT mnemonic from Moses when the tribes of Reuben and Gad approached him and requested for permission to settle on the eastern side of the River Jordan instead of crossing it to fight for their inheritance in the land of Canaan. These people did this because they had many livestock and they surveyed the land on that side and seen that it was fit for their herds. Numbers 32:1 A Assess your problems feelings goals right needs and wants Moses saw that this issue of the two tribes not wanting to fight for their Promised Land on the other side of the River Jordan could anger God and cause Him to abandon the Israelites in the wilderness and destroy them. Numbers 32:15 S Set a convenient time and place to meet Moses did not have to set a convenient time and place because he chose to speak to the Gadites and Reubenites when they presented their proposal to him. The timing was convenient since they approached him when he was with Eleazar the priest and the other Israelite leaders. The place was

slide 11:

11 © Dr. Miriam Kinai http://www.ChristianStressManagement.com/ Email almasihealthcareyahoo.com also convenient since at that time all the Israelites had camped in the Moab plains along the River Jordan opposite to Jericho. S State the problem clearly The problem according to Moses was that if the people from the tribes of Gad and Reuben decided to settle on the eastern side of the Jordan river their brothers from the other tribes would get discouraged and not fight for their Promised Land on the western side of the Jordan. This would lead to God abandoning them in the wilderness and destroying them. Moses therefore stated the problem clearly by asking the Gadites and Reubenites “Shall your brothers go to fight for the Promised Land while you sit there Why should you discourage the other Israelites from going to fight for the land which God has given them” Numbers 32:6-7 Moses also told them “If you do not follow God He will leave you in the wilderness and destroy all the Israelites.’ Numbers 32:15 To learn more buy Christian Assertiveness Training Amazon Ebook To learn more buy Christian Assertiveness Training PDF Ebook Click here for more Christian Self Help Books

12 © Dr. Miriam Kinai http://www.ChristianStressManagement.com/ Email almasihealthcareyahoo.com Christian Conflict Resolution Christian Conflict Resolution uses Bible examples to teach you how to resolve conflicts effectively regardless of whether they are family workplace or social conflicts. Buy Christian Conflict Resolution Amazon Ebook Buy Christian Conflict Resolution PDF Ebook Christian Conflict Resolution Book Excerpt This Bible story of David Nabal and Abigail in 1 Samuel 25:2-38 teaches us how to resolve conflicts effectively. Nabal was a harsh evil and rich man who had 3000 sheep and 1000 goats. His wife Abigail was a beautiful woman of good understanding. David and his men protected Nabal’s shepherds and one feast day David sent messengers to ask Nabal for food. Nabal was very rude to David’s envoys and this angered David so much that he armed 400 men and set off for Nabal’s homestead to kill all his men. Abigail was told of how her husband had reviled David and repaid him evil for the good he had done to her shepherds. She was also informed that her household was in danger because of her husband. She acted quickly and loaded donkeys with food and wine and set off to see David. While on her way Abigail met David and his men approaching her homestead. She spoke to David and resolved the conflict between him and her husband and in so doing saved her family and homestead. Abigail can teach us the following rules of Christian conflict resolution: Prepare For It Preparing will help you resolve your conflicts faster and leave the negotiation table content. To help you decide what you want to achieve from the conflict resolution process write down: A. All your interests which are threatened by the conflict in order of importance. B. How you want the conflict to be resolved.

slide 13:

13 © Dr. Miriam Kinai http://www.ChristianStressManagement.com/ Email almasihealthcareyahoo.com C. What you are willing to concede as you compromise to reach a solution. D. What you want to retain as you negotiate to reach a solution. Abigail could have prepared for meeting David by writing down the following: A. All your interests which are threatened by the conflict in order of importance. Abigail’s interests which were threatened by the conflict between her husband Nabal and David were the lives of all the men in her family and household for David said to Abigail: “… Surely by morning light no males would have been left to Nabal” 1 Samuel 25:34 B. How you want the conflict to be resolved. Abigail wanted the conflict to be resolved and the men’s lives spared for she said to David “That this will be of no grief to you nor offense of heart to my lord either that you have shed blood without cause or that my lord has avenged himself.” 1 Samuel 25:31 C. What you are willing to concede as you compromise to reach a solution. In order to compromise and reach a solution Abigail was willing to “trade off” some things for she Took 200 loaves of bread 2 skins of wine 5 sheep already dressed 5 seahs of roasted grain 100 clusters of raisins and 200 cakes of figs and loaded them on donkeys 1 Samuel 25:18 to take them to David. D. What you want to retain as you negotiate to reach a solution. As she compromised Abigail wanted to retain the lives of the men of her household and business as evidenced by her words see B above. Buy Christian Emotional Healing Amazon Ebook Buy Christian Emotional Healing PDF Ebook Christian Emotional Healing Book Excerpt If you are hurting on the inside and you want to cure emotional wounds you can help yourself by doing the following: Share your Problem Joseph talked about his emotionally painful situation to Pharaoh’s butler when he told him that he had done nothing that deserved being thrown into the jail house dungeon and asked him to mention his case to Pharaoh. Genesis 40:14-15 Therefore talk to a Christian counselor so that you can gain valuable insight of what you need to do to be totally healed. You can also talk to a lawyer to help you address any other issues surrounding your emotionally painful situation. As you talk to people do not share your emotional pain with everyone because we can see that Joseph did not share his problems with Pharaoh’s baker who was going to die. Therefore be selective and pray for discernment in your sharing. If you do not have a human being to share your problems with talk to Jesus because His name shall be called Wonderful Counselor. Isaiah 9:6 Help Others with their Problem

slide 15:

15 © Dr. Miriam Kinai http://www.ChristianStressManagement.com/ Email almasihealthcareyahoo.com In addition to talking to a select group of people about your problems you should also talk to other people so that you can help them with their problems. Learn from Joseph who after being unfairly incarcerated did not become an unfriendly antisocial prisoner and isolate himself in his prison cell. We know that he was friendly within the confines of the prison walls because on the morning that he found Pharaoh’s butler and baker looking sad he asked them “Why do you look so sad today” Genesis 40:6-7 After discovering the source of their pain he offered to help them by telling them “Please tell me your dreams.” Genesis 40:8 Note that he did not have to do this because he could have kept his dream interpretation gift to himself and let them continue suffering. Joseph did not also say to himself on seeing their sad countenances “Oh my the butler and baker look very sad today but I won’t be bothered because I also have my own problems.” Therefore learn from him and spend a portion of your time and energy helping others who are in emotional pain even if your own emotionally painful situation has not changed. Do not thus isolate yourself in your misery or let your misery isolate you. Purposely schedule time to socialize and help other people. Buy Christian Goal Setting Amazon Ebook Buy Christian Goal Setting PDF Ebook Christian Goal Setting Book Excerpt The following are the steps that you need to take if you want to set and achieve your goals in life. Pray Over The Goal The first step to achieving your goals in life is to pray over the goals. Learn from David when he and his men returned to their homes in Ziklag and found their houses razed and their wives and children kidnapped for David inquired of the Lord saying “Shall I pursue after this troop” 1 Samuel 30:8 David did not immediately set a goal of setting out to pursue the kidnappers. He first sought the Lord’s direction. God encouraged him and told him “Pursue for you shall surely overtake them and recover everything.” 1 Samuel 30:8 As a result of acknowledging God before he set out on his goal God directed David’s path and he and his men found an Egyptian who had been a servant of one of the kidnapping Amalekites. This man had been left to die by his master when he fell sick and he led David and his men to the hideout of the Amalekite attackers. David and his men were therefore able to find and fight the Amalekites and they recovered all their family members and all their property. 1 Samuel 30:11-19 Therefore Do not be wise in your own eyes. Proverbs 3:7 Or in other words do not consider yourself so wise that you do not need God’s guidance. Instead In all your ways acknowledge God and He shall direct your paths. Proverbs 3:6

slide 17:

17 © Dr. Miriam Kinai http://www.ChristianStressManagement.com/ Email almasihealthcareyahoo.com Write Down the QTM Goal The third step of achieving your goal is to write down the goal for the Bible tells us “Write down the vision and make it plain so that he may run who reads it.” Habakkuk 2:2 Therefore write down the QTM goal you want to achieve so that you do not dither in indecision. For optimum results write down your goal in pictures after writing it down in words. To do this create a vision board by cutting out magazine pictures that represent your goal and stick them to a board. Place this board where you will see it every day so that you can look at it and feel yourself achieving your goals. For example if you are setting a weight loss goal stick pictures of persons with your target body weight on a board and hang the board where you will see it every day. If you are setting a career goal stick pictures of persons doing your dream job on a board and hang it where you will see it every day. If you are setting a marriage goal stick pictures of couples on their wedding day framed in love and confetti on a board and hang it where you will see it every day. 20 © Dr. Miriam Kinai http://www.ChristianStressManagement.com/ Email almasihealthcareyahoo.com Christian Personal Finance Christian Personal Finance teaches 29 Bible principles on money management. It also uses examples from the Bible to teach you: Christian financial stress management from people who were dealing with money stress like the Acts 3 beggar and the widow in second Kings. Biblical prosperity principles from wealthy men and women of God like Isaac and the Proverbs 31 woman. Bible verses to use as spiritual warfare prayers and as Christian finance affirmations and Christian money meditations. Buy Christian Personal Finance Amazon Ebook Buy Christian Personal Finance PDF Ebook Christian Personal Finance Book Excerpt Christian money management principles that we can learn from the Bible include: Pray for God’s Blessing The first principle of Biblical prosperity is to pray and ask God to bless you. Know that even if other humans beings do not have the time to listen to what you have to say because of your financial status God will listen to you For the Lord hears the poor Psalm 69:33 and He will deliver the needy when he cries the poor and the person who has no helper. Psalm 72:12 Therefore Pray without Ceasing 1 Thessalonians 5:17 because God can give you the financial freedom that you yearn for because He reassures us that For the oppression of the poor and for the sighing of the needy I will arise" says the Lord. "I will set them in the safety for which they yearn". Psalm 12:5 As you pray believe that God can answer your prayers because we see that when Jacob asked God to bless him God blessed him.

slide 21:

21 © Dr. Miriam Kinai http://www.ChristianStressManagement.com/ Email almasihealthcareyahoo.com We also see that as he was asking God to bless him Jacob was not a poor man by any standards because that evening he had prepared a present for his estranged brother Esau and this present consisted of 200 female goats 20 male goats 200 ewes 20 rams 30 milk camels with their colts 40 cows 10 bulls 20 female donkeys and 10 foals. Genesis 32 Jabez also asked God to bless him by saying “O that You would bless me indeed and enlarge my territory…” And God granted Jabez what he requested. 1 Chronicles 4:10 Therefore pray and ask God to bless you and to bless all the work of your hands because God has pleasure in the prosperity of His servants. Psalm 35:27 As you pray use Scriptures since The sword of the spirit … is the word of God Ephesians 6:17 that God has given us to fight with. Bible verses that you can use as Christian prosperity prayers include: Heavenly Father I ask You in the name of Jesus to remember me with the favor You have towards Your people and to visit me with Your salvation so that I may see the benefit of Your chosen ones rejoice in the gladness of Your nation and glory with Your inheritance. Adapted Psalm 106:4-5 Heavenly Father I ask You in the name of Jesus to bless my hard work and help me prosper since it is written that The soul of the diligent shall be made rich. Proverbs 19:4 Heavenly Father I ask You in the name of Jesus to command the blessing on my stores and in all the work I do. 22 © Dr. Miriam Kinai http://www.ChristianStressManagement.com/ Email almasihealthcareyahoo.com Christian Stress Management Course Christian Stress Management Course teaches you how to manage stress effectively by combining time tested principles from the Bible with medically proven relaxation techniques. By the end of this course you will have learned: How the body responds to stress The physical mental emotional and behavioral symptoms of stress How to manage stress by using Biblical principles How to manage stress by using medical relaxation techniques Buy Christian Stress Management Course Amazon Ebook Buy Christian Stress Management Course PDF Ebook Christian Stress Management Course Excerpt The first thing you should do in any stressful situation is to ask God what you should do about it. Seek His direction first and Do not be wise in your own eyes. Proverbs 3:7 To do this pray for He says Call to Me and I will answer you and show you great and mighty things which you do not know Jeremiah 33:3 and these fresh insights will help you make better decisions. As you pray pray with the confidence that God is listening to you and He will answer your prayers even if you are the only one praying for yourself and even if you have made many big mistakes because We do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses but He was in all points tempted as we are yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need. Hebrews 4: 15-16 As you pray remind yourself that God cares for you and so you do not have to develop stress- related illnesses from carrying mental burdens. Therefore Cast your burdens on the Lord and He shall sustain you Psalm 55: 22 because He cares for you.

slide 23:

23 © Dr. Miriam Kinai http://www.ChristianStressManagement.com/ Email almasihealthcareyahoo.com Cast your burdens to the Lord by telling Him all your problems and all the people who are stressing you so that He can deal with them and then promise yourself that once you have released your burdens you will never pick them up again. After casting all your problems to the Lord you can now ask in faith for whatever you need to resolve your stressful situation for He tells us Ask and it will be given to you. Matthew 7:7 To receive your request you have to believe that you will receive it for His Word urges us to Ask in faith without doubting for the person who doubts is like a sea wave driven and tossed by the wind and that person should not suppose that they will receive anything from the Lord because they are double-minded and unstable in all their ways. James 1:6-8 Since Faith is the substance of things hoped for the evidence of things not seenHebrews 11:1 asking in faith entails being able to see yourself with your mind’s eye receiving the things that you are asking the Lord to give you. So if you are asking for healing you have to see the laboratory tests returning as normal the cancerous mass becoming undetectable and the doctors telling you that you have been cured. Finally thank Him for the blessings that He has already bestowed on you and for the blessings that you are expecting to receive in faith. 24 © Dr. Miriam Kinai http://www.ChristianStressManagement.com/ Email almasihealthcareyahoo.com Christian Time Management Christian Time Management uses examples from the Bible to teach you how to manage time more effectively. Buy Christian Time Management Amazon Ebook Buy Christian Time Management PDF Ebook Christian Time Management Book Excerpt Time has been equated to money in many aspects and the effective management of money can also teach you the following principles of time management: Keep a Diary Just as you keep a Spending Diary to determine how you spend each and every dollar you earn you also have to keep a Time Diary to determine how you spend each and every hour you live. Therefore buy a small notebook and write down how you spend every hour of your day for one month and you will have a fairly good idea where you time goes. Assess Expenditure Just as you go through your Spending Diary to assess how you are spending your precious money you also have to go through you Time Diary to assess how you are spending your precious minutes. Therefore spend some time each week evaluating your expenditure of time to see if it is in line with your Life’s Purpose. Make a Budget Just as you make a money budget so that you do not spend/waste your money on inconsequential items you also have to make a time budget so that you do not spend/waste your time on inconsequential activities. Therefore create a Weekly Time Budget by dividing the 168 hours in each week into the activities you need to accomplish each week.

slide 25:

25 © Dr. Miriam Kinai http://www.ChristianStressManagement.com/ Email almasihealthcareyahoo.com Before you begin making your Weekly Time Budget Acknowledge God and He shall direct your paths Proverbs 3:5 so that you can be in alignment with His purposes for your life. A sample Weekly Time Budget might include: 50 hours sleeping 40 hours working at your job 30 hours relaxing with family and friends 10 hours commuting to work 5 hours watching TV and 5 hours engaged in a hobby. After making your Weekly Time Budget analyze it and tweak it to ensure it is in line with your life’s purpose and major life goals. For example if you find that you are spending 2 hours on your most important life goal of writing books and 20 hours watching TV you may have to cut into your TV time to finish your books. As you make your Weekly Time Budget ensure that it keeps the 3 rd commandment by avoiding work-related activities on Sundays for God says “6 days you shall work but the 7 th day is the Sabbath of your Lord. In it you shall not work … because in 6 days the Lord made the heavens the earth the sea and all that is in them and rested on the 7 th day.” Exodus 20:8-11 After making your Weekly Time Budget place it where you can see it so that you can remind yourself of your goals. For the best results place it in three places where you are often tempted to waste the precious seconds of your life. For example you can write it in your diary and read it when you wake up stick it to the wall of your workspace and post it online. Buy Christian Travel Planning Amazon Ebook Buy Christian Travel Planning PDF Ebook Christian Travel Planning Book Excerpt The following are the spiritual steps you need to take when planning for your trip: Pray When Ezra and the Israelites were travelling from Babylon to Jerusalem they needed God’s protection and so they prayed for Ezra said I was ashamed to ask the king for an escort of soldiers and horsemen to help us against the enemy on the road because we had told the king that “The hand of our God is upon all those who seek Him for good but His power and His wrath are against all those who forsake Him.” Ezra 8:22 Therefore seek the Lord in prayer before you set off on your journey. As you do so ensure that you use Bible verses since The sword of the spirit is the word of God. This Christian fasting book also teaches you the different types of fasts according to the Bible and explains the spiritual benefits of not eating food. Topics covered in this book include: How to fast for answered prayers How to fast for breakthroughs How to fast for God’s guidance How to fast for favor How to fast for forgiveness How to fast for healing How to fast for journey protection How to fast for provision How to fast for restoration How to fast for victory How to fast for restoration How to fast for your ministry Buy How to Fast Effectively Amazon Ebook Buy How to Fast Effectively PDF Ebook How to Fast Effectively Book Excerpt The Bible teaches us what we should do if we want to fast successfully. We learn some of these principles from Isaiah 58 when the Israelites fasted unsuccessfully for they asked God “Why have we fasted … and You have not seen Why have we afflicted our souls and You have not noticed” Isaiah 58:3 These principles of fasting successfully include the following: Help the Less Fortunate God asked the Israelites Is this not the fast that I have chosen … To share your food with those who are hungry … That you invite to your home the poor who are cast out … That when you see a person who is naked you cover them …. That you do not hide yourself from your own flesh and blood Isaiah 58:7

You can do this by physically taking food and clothing to shelters for the homeless or giving money to organizations that support the less fortunate in your society. God further reiterates the importance of helping those who are suffering because He says If you extend yourself to help the hungry and satisfy the needs of those who are afflicted then your light shall arise in the darkness. Isaiah 58:10 Correct Wickedness God asked the Israelites Is this not the fast that I have chosen: to loosen the chains of wickedness Isaiah 58:6 Therefore if you had engaged in any sort of evil ensure that you stop engaging in it when you are abstaining from food and undo any damage your evil practices may have caused. In addition make sure that you do not utter wicked words or engaging in malicious talk for the Bible says You shall cry out for help and God will say “Here I am” if you take away the yoke of oppression from your midst the pointing of the finger and speaking wickedness. Buy How to Increase Your Faith Amazon Ebook Buy How to Increase Your Faith PDF Ebook How to Increase Your Faith Book Excerpt Having faith in God or believing God and His Word is very important because it enables you to please God for Without faith it is impossible to please God. Hebrews 11:6 Faith also enables you to protect yourself from the devil’s attacks because we are told Above all take the shield of faith with which you will be able to put out all the fiery darts of the wicked one. Ephesians 6:16 Faith also makes it possible for you to receive things from God because we are told to Ask in faith without doubting for the person who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. Let not that person suppose that they will receive anything from God. James 1:6-7 We can also see this faith in God at work from the many people who received their healing from Jesus because He told them “Your faith has made you well.” Mark 5:34 Luke 17:19 Having faith will even help you solve gigantic problems for Jesus taught If you have faith as small as a mustard seed you will say to this mountain ‘Move from here to there’ and it will move. Matthew 17:20 And nothing will be impossible for you Matthew 17:20 because of believing. Since you already have some faith for God has given everyone a measure of faith Romans 12:3 if you want to increase your faith or to strengthen it do the following: Pray When Jesus disciples were unable to cast out a deaf and dumb spirit from a certain boy his father said to Jesus “If you can do anything have mercy on us and help us.” Mark 9:22 Jesus replied by saying "All things are possible for the person who believes." Mark 9:23

slide 33:

Mark 9:24 To understand why this man prayed such a conflicting prayer put yourself in his shoes for a minute: Lord I Believe This man probably prayed "Lord I believe" because to bring his sick son to Jesus disciples he must have heard that Jesus had the power to heal people. Help My Unbelief This man probably prayed "Help my unbelief" because he had seen this spirit do many bad things to his son because it used to throw him down and he would foam at the mouth gnash his teeth and become rigid Mark 9:18. This father had also seen the spirit throw his son in the fire and water in an attempt to kill him. In addition not only had he seen these bad things happening to his son but he had seen them happening for many years since he told Jesus this had been happening from the boy’s childhood. Mark 9:21 Furthermore he had brought his son to the disciples of Jesus and they were unable to cast out the spirit. Therefore a part of him must have thought that this bad spirit could not be cast out of his son. These events probably weakened his faith and we know that his faith was weak because when he spoke to Jesus the Son of God he said "If you can do anything". Mark 9:22 By using the word "If" he showed that he thought Jesus could have had the ability to heal his son and at the same time it was also possible that Jesus could not have been unable to cast out the spirit like His disciples. By using the word "anything" this man showed that he was not sure that Jesus could really cast out the deaf and mute spirit completely and stop it from throwing his son down making him foam at To learn more buy How to Increase Your Faith Amazon Ebook To learn more buy How to Increase Your Faith PDF Ebook Click here for more Christian Self Help Books

This Christian self help book will help you fulfill the purposes of God for your life like David. Buy How to Know and Fulfill Your Life’s Purpose Amazon Ebook Buy How to Know and Fulfill Your Life’s Purpose PDF Ebook How to Know and Fulfill Your Life’s Purpose Book Excerpt The Bible tells us that We are God’s workmanship created in Christ Jesus to do good works which God prepared for us beforehand so that we should walk in them. Ephesians 2:10 This shows you that God first prepared some good works for you to do and then He made you so that you can do them. Those good works that God created you to do are your Life’s Purpose. It is therefore very important to identify why God made you as soon as you can so that you can begin doing it. We can see that Jesus knew why He was here on earth from the age of 12 years because when He went with Mary and Joseph to Jerusalem for the Feast of Passover he lingered behind after His earthly parents had left to go home. Mary and Joseph travelled for a day thinking he was somewhere in the crowd but when they looked for Him among their relatives and friends and did not find Him they returned to Jerusalem to search for Him. After looking for 3 days they found Jesus in the Temple sitting in the middle of the teachers listening and asking questions. Those who heard Him were amazed by His answers and understanding. When Mary saw Him there she asked Him "Your father and I have been anxiously looking for You. Why have you done this to us" Jesus answered her by saying "Why did you look for me Did you not know that I must be doing My Fathers business" But Mary and Joseph did not understand His answer. Luke 2:41- 50

35 © Dr. Miriam Kinai http://www.ChristianStressManagement.com/ Email almasihealthcareyahoo.com Therefore discover your life’s purpose so that you can begin doing your Heavenly Father’s business here on earth. How to Know Your Life’s Purpose The best way of knowing your life’s purpose is to pray and ask God because He is the One Who made you and He says Before I formed you in the belly I knew you. Before you came out of the womb I sanctified you and I ordained you. Jeremiah 1:5 For example you can pray “Heavenly Father I ask You in the name of Jesus to reveal to me the good works which you prepared for me to do here on earth.” Talents Your gifts and talents provide strong clues for your Life’s Purpose. Therefore as you wait for God’s definitive answer begin using your gifts and talents to fill a need in your society. This need can be those mentioned in Matthew 25 which include feeding the hungry welcoming visitors to your Church dressing the naked and nursing the sick. For example if you are a gifted knitter you can donate a few of your cardigans to people who do not have warm clothing. Assets Woman with Alabaster Flask of Perfume When Jesus was at Simon the Pharisee’s house a woman came with an alabaster flask filled with expensive spikenard perfume. Luke 7:37-38 This woman used her assets – hair and tears– to serve a need in her society for Jesus told the Pharisee “I entered your house and you did not give me water for my feet but she has washed my feet with her tears and wiped them with her hair. This Christian self help book also uses principles from the Bible to help you stop feeling shy and start living like a social butterfly. Buy How to Overcome Shyness Amazon Ebook Buy How to Overcome Shyness PDF Ebook How to Overcome Shyness Book Excerpt Shyness limits a person’s life by encasing them in a lonely cocoon which is somewhat similar to that of a metamorphosing caterpillar. Fortunately for the shy person and the caterpillar a time comes when they must struggle to get out of the restrictions of their cocoon if they are to fully enjoy the rest of their lives as free social butterflies. If you are determined to break free and change from a shy loner to the sociable being that you have always wanted to be follow the steps in this book. Use Systemic Desensitization Systemic desensitization is a simple method that you can use to overcome shyness. The first step in using systemic desensitization is to learn abdominal breathing. Abdominal breathing is one of the simplest relaxation techniques and the fastest way to counter the body’s stress response. It involves inhaling deeply through your nose until your abdomen rises holding your breath for a few seconds and then exhaling completely until your abdomen falls. Therefore take several deep breaths before you continue. The second step of this systemic desensitization program involves imagining yourself doing what you normally feel shy doing. So ask yourself “Do I feel shy when I am with strangers” or “Do I feel shy when I am in a strange place” or “Do I feel shy when I am learning a strange skill” Then pick the situation you feel most shy in and close your eyes and imagine yourself in that situation. For example if shyness stops you from talking to strangers close your eyes and see yourself with your mind’s eye talking to a stranger.

slide 37:

37 © Dr. Miriam Kinai http://www.ChristianStressManagement.com/ Email almasihealthcareyahoo.com As you begin to feel the distress that emanates from that encounter take several deep abdominal breaths to counter that distress and continue visualizing yourself taking to the stranger until you no longer feel distressed. Once you can comfortably imagine yourself talking to one stranger without getting stressed or feeling shy imagine yourself doing that activity to an increasing number of people. Visualize yourself talking to two strangers. Then visualize yourself lecturing three teenagers. Then visualize yourself giving directions to five lost tourists. Then visualize yourself making a presentation to a room full of your coworkers. Finally visualize yourself giving a speech to an auditorium full of people. As you visualize use abdominal breathing to counter the distress of your imaginations until you are comfortable seeing yourself mentally doing those things that you are uncomfortable doing in public. Once you have mentally mastered talking to people without feeling shy or stressed you can now go out into the real physical world and do what you have been practicing. Once again begin by talking to one stranger and gradually increase the number of people you talk to. For example you can begin by asking directions from a person you meet on the street. Once you are comfortable talking to one person look for scenarios where you approach two strangers and talk to them and gradually increase the number until you are comfortable talking to a roomful of strangers. slide 39:

39 © Dr. Miriam Kinai http://www.ChristianStressManagement.com/ Email almasihealthcareyahoo.com If you want to pray effectively you have to ask specifically for what you need in your prayers. We can see a good example from Hannah because when she was praying for a child she specified that she wanted a baby boy. 1 Samuel 1:11 Therefore when you are praying specify the problem that you want God to solve for you. Or in other words knock on the door that you want Him to open for you. Ask In Faith Ask in faith without doubting for the person who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. Let not that person suppose that they will receive anything from the Lord because they are double-minded and unstable in all their ways. James 1:6-8 If you want to pray effectively you must ask in faith. This means that you have to pray while being sure that God will answer your prayers and while seeing yourself with your mind’s eye receiving your answer from Him since Faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen. Hebrews 11:1 Therefore if you are praying for God to give you a spouse you have to see yourself walking down the aisle with them on your wedding day. If you are asking God for a baby you have to feel yourself cradling your child in your arms. Even if what you are praying for seems impossible to receive because of your human circumstances you still have to believe that God can grant it to you because God is Able to do more than we could ever ask for. Ephesians 3:20 In addition to believing with your mind that God will answer your prayer you also have to speak your faith. We can see that when King Jehoshaphat and the Israelites were attacked by multiple armies as he was praying he expressed confidence in God’s ability to help them for he said “Are you not our God who drove out the inhabitants of this land before Your people and gave it to the seed of Abraham forever” 2 Chronicles 20:7 To learn more buy How to Pray Effectively Amazon Ebook To learn more buy How to Pray Effectively PDF Ebook Click here for more Christian Self Help Books

As Jesus left Jericho with his disciples and a great number of people blind Bartimaeus the son of Timaeus sat by the roadside begging. When he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth Who was passing he began to cry out and say “Jesus son of David have mercy on me.” Many people told him to hold his peace but he cried all the more “Son of David have mercy on me.” Jesus then stood still and commanded him to be called. They called Bartimaeus and said to him “Be of good comfort rise for he is calling you.” Bartimaeus casting away his garment rose and came to Jesus. Jesus then said unto him “What do you want Me to do for you The blind man said “Lord that I might receive my sight.” Jesus replied “Go your way. Cry out to Him like Bartimaeus and ask Him to restore your inner vision so that you can begin to believe and see yourself as worthy of more than being used as a doormat. In addition ask Jesus to restore you to wholeness if a sense of incompleteness makes you crave public approval so that you can feel good about yourself. To do this you can pray the following prayer Heavenly Father I ask You in the name of Jesus to Heal me and I shall be healed Jeremiah 17:14 of this disease to please. Father God I also ask you to Save me and I shall be saved Jeremiah 17:14 from craving for validation from others. Amen. Be A Jesus Pleaser The second thing you have to do to stop being a compulsive people pleaser is to be a dedicated Jesus pleaser by coming to Jesus the way Bartimaeus arose and went to Him To do this make a conscious decision to turn away from your sinful ways and then say with your mouth that “Jesus is Lord” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead when He died for our sins and you will be saved. Romans 10:9 After getting saved drop the heavy yoke of living to please people and put on the light one of living just to please Jesus. To do this read your Bible so that you can know how He and our Heavenly Father would like you to live and then do as They say in the Bible and you will find the peaceful rest Matthew 11:28-30 that public approval can never give you. If you read something that God would like you to do but you are scared of public censure learn from Gideon and find a way of doing it even if it involves an extraordinary method. Buy Why Does God Allow Suffering Amazon Ebook Buy Why Does God Allow Suffering PDF Ebook Why Does God Allow Suffering Book Excerpt Have you been asking “Why does God allow suffering” because of the profound problems that have plagued your life Have you been asking yourself “Why do bad things happen to good people” because you have been faithful to God and yet you are going through some very painful experiences you are sure God could have prevented If you have know that only God can answer these questions definitively but I will try and explain why some bad things happen to some good people and why God sometimes allows suffering in our lives. God’s Judgment Your suffering period could be God’s judgment. When the Israelites camped on the Moab plains across from Jericho waiting to enter their Promised Land God told Moses and Eleazar to take a second census. This census found that the Israelites who were 20 years old or older numbered 601730 excluding the Levites. Numbers 26:51 God had ordered the first census to be done after the Israelites left Egypt and all the men aged 20 years or older were found to be 603550 excluding the Levites. Numbers 1 Of the 603550 men who were counted in the first census only Caleb and Joshua were alive and counted in the second census.

This generation of men of war Deuteronomy 2:14 died because they let the report of giants strong men and fortified cities terrify them and stop them from believing that God could bring them into their Promised Land and give it to them. Numbers 14:8 God destroyed these 603548 men in the following way: The 10 spies who had brought an evil report about the Promised Land died by a plague Numbers 14:37 Korah Dathan and Abiram were swallowed by the ground together with their households because of gathering against God. Numbers 16:31-32 A fire came from God which burnt 250 men who were offering incense to God when they should not have been doing it. Numbers 16:35 14700 Israelites died when God sent a plague because they had accused Moses of killing the 250 men who were killed by God because of offering profane incense. Numbers 16:49 Many Israelites died when God sent fiery serpents to bite them after they complained of not having food and water. Numbers 21:6 24000 Israelites died in a plague because of committing harlotry with the Moabite women Numbers 25:9 We can therefore see that God allowed suffering in the form of plagues to affect the Israelite population. It may have seemed that these plagues were killing innocent people but these men already had a death sentence from God. Their deaths were thus not random deaths from pointless suffering because God was weeding out from the Israelite population those men He said would not enter the Promised Land. It is also important to note that these plagues were striking where the men lived with their families To learn more buy Why Does God Allow Suffering Amazon Ebook To learn more buy Why Does God Allow Suffering PDF Ebook Click here for more Christian Self Help Books
