Premium member Presentation Transcript TCCSA SICHUANCULTURAL EXCHANGE TRIP : TCCSA SICHUANCULTURAL EXCHANGE TRIP WHAT IS TCCSA?? : WHAT IS TCCSA?? The Cross – Cultural Community Services Association (TCCSA) is a nonprofit organization funded by the Government of Canada TCCSA’s vision is facilitating the well being of diversified communities through social services. Each year TCCSA holds a Youth Ambassador competition, the primary purpose of this event is to promote Canada’s multiculturalism and diversity. The two winners this year will have the opportunity to go to Sichuan China for a cultural exchange program. The Mission of this Trip : The Mission of this Trip Live like a Local, Experience their culture...Teenagers in Canada today are more fortunate than many other young people in other parts of the world. If given the opportunity, Canadian youth should get out of their comfort zone and have a taste of what the teenagers their age are experiencing. World Issues : World Issues There is no doubt that China's economy is blooming and expanding internationally and is rapidly taking over globally. As China is being recognized worldwide, there are still many issues that have yet to be solved. Poverty has always been an issue and continues to be a serious concern today. Slide 6: Chinese Canadian youth may not be aware of the poverty issue in China. This crisis has been going on for years. With an economy that is blooming on a world wide scale and has opened itself to international free trade it may seem that China has painted itself a very beautiful picture. However, there are many colors that are missing in their pallet and together we can help make a difference, as many provinces are struggling to make a living that supports their family. Slide 7: The phrase "Blood is thicker than water" was not as evident until the unexpected Sichuan earthquake shocked everyone worldwide, especially the Chinese community. Slide 8: This natural disaster not only killed many innocent people but also separated many beloved ones. Slide 9: This event brought together many Chinese people with one mission, which is to help reconstruct the city and aid the residents regain their homes, schools, city and most importantly confidence and emotional needs. Since many families are living in poverty, it will take a while for this province to recover and reconstruct. Slide 10: Youth that are brought up in Canada may not realize how privileged they are and may take many things for granted. Since, the earthquake shocked and touched many individuals, they have only learned this through the media, and has not physically been there to experience the pain. Slide 11: The volunteers will be assigned to Deyang 5th School in Sichuan and will also reside at either school residence OR host family. This trip may not be easy but will definitely be a memorable and priceless trip that will last a life time, for the Canadian volunteers and the students and teachers in Sichuan. SICHUAN TRIP : SICHUAN TRIP Heidi LiuThe Cross- Cultural Community Services Association (416) 977-4026hliu@tccsa.on.cahttp:llwww.tccsa.on.ca Schedule as following:May 6 (Thursday)-May 20: Deposit $500 by January 1, 2010. Total: $2400. The cost includes: accommodation (stay at host families), admission, airfare, meals, tour guide, CPR course and mandarin course, Xian visitation. Slide 13: There are only 15 vacancies, and there will be an application process to see if the applicant is a suitable candidate. This trip is beyond just a cultural experience. A month prior to the trip TCCSA will offer Mandarin classes and information sessions about Sichuan, so they can build a stronger foundation and knowledge. Volunteers will be in charged to pay for their own flight ticket; however TCCSA will be covering cost for food and accommodations.
